If they don’t get any serious upgrades why on earth will it be fun? - sbroads24
It's all about drafting and developing bulding a contending team with the right pieces .

Some ppl just don’t get it
Kinda funny considering some of the same ppl clamoring for serious upgrades were so critical when gmtm made moves to speed up the last rebuild
Few have any patience left |

The Sabres now own the longest playoff drought in NHL history. Impatience isn't the right word to describe the desire to be a-tall relevant at this point in time |

some people get frustrated when 2 of your top 10 prospects are going to walk away unsigned for next to nothing
your opinion means no more then anyone else even if in caps or bolded

My low bar for the team this off season is hitting the cap floor without Boychuk contracts. That would mean they actually signed/traded for real talent to really attempt a playoff berth |

they can sign the RD and goalie on short term deals so even if they wanted to keep everyone up front, they would get to the cap floor and in theory improve on the team that played well from march 1st on
and keep all of their draft picks and prospects
2 ufa signings does that |

All I really want is a goalie. UPL is oft injured, even though I want him to be the 1b. Anderson I like but he’s old and I don’t see him holding up for another 82 game run.
I’d also like to see a top 4 rd to slide joker down to 3rd pair.
Is that really asking too much? I think the team played well enough for those two upgrades with adding Quinn and JPP. |

I just love when he spends a whole post referring to me without directly referring to me. Like I’m not gonna notice |

It is also a pretty darn big fail if you draft and can’t develop because the players don’t want to sign here. Portillo and Johnson are an absolute HUGE fail for Adam’s and co. If they walk. And with spots in both leagues staring them in the face and they head back to school is largely telling for the organization. It’s a failure. Plain and simple. And I know there is still a chance but come on, writing is all but on the wall. |

Mason Marchment is a perfect fit for the Sabres as a UFA forward.
High compete, solid skater, skilled, big, physical, annoying to play against, and produces points.
He should be on the Sabres radar. |

Is it or is it not the GM's job to make it so good players are #peoplewhowanttobehere?
Beane doesn't seem to have that problem.
Git gud. The rest is PR. |

This team is also eons ahead of where the 2015 Sabres were when Tim Murray moved prospects and picks.
We can absolutely afford to trade a combination of a 1st, Kisakov or Polpatov, Mitts or Jokiharju and Johnson + Portillo
They need to make a few moves |

Conversely, it's waaayyyy easier to be completely risk averse, do the bare minimum and sell next year as another "growth year" while putting zero expectations on it.
Perhaps most importantly, it's also the cheaper option. |
