so no more drilling?

I'm undoubtedly cynical but I expect the absolute minimum from ownership and will be thrilled at any effort above that

Is it or is it not the GM's job to make it so good players are #peoplewhowanttobehere?

Beane doesn't seem to have that problem.

Git gud. The rest is PR.

- Hank Balling

I would think that is a large part of the GM AND President’s job.

I said recently, I am happy with the on ice product.

I am happy with how they handled fan experience. They handled Rj wonderfully.

Now it’s the front office (Adam’s) turn to show us they have turned the corner. The initial look is not great because of the college kids.

Let’s see if he figures anything out with Portillo and Johnson. Lets see what he does with Olo. If Tage gets an extension. Etc…

It will be interesting… show me something Adam’s. And I’m not looking for a ton.

This team is also eons ahead of where the 2015 Sabres were when Tim Murray moved prospects and picks.

We can absolutely afford to trade a combination of a 1st, Kisakov or Polpatov, Mitts or Jokiharju and Johnson + Portillo

They need to make a few moves

- sbroads24

Say what you will about Murray, and there have been volumes, but at least he (frank)ing tried.

I can't say the same for the current bumble(frank) in the front office

All of that. Also:

Pick one of Aplund or Girgensons, move the other and spend to bring in a real, established top-6 forward who can help make this a team to genuinely compete with the aging giants in the East.

Also 2 goalie upgrades. I'd count on UPL for absolutely nothing and hope he pleasantly surprises.

Mason Marchment is a perfect fit for the Sabres as a UFA forward.

High compete, solid skater, skilled, big, physical, annoying to play against, and produces points.

He should be on the Sabres radar.

- kingcong39

He’d be a very welcomed addition, but it sounds like this sort of move isn’t in line with Gerbs’ “draft and develop” approach. This type of player may be far too much to hope for.
But whoever proposed the Shea Weber idea, that sounds like a more realistic possibility.

I do not disagree! I was tempering expectations! But yes, UPL is an oft injured RFA. I’d like to see if he can have a healthy season with the big club. Which is why losing both college goalies could hurt. They could get the cup of coffee while UPL is on the shelf.

I guess you could do…

New Tendy 1
Larry Tendy 2

UPL
Suban.

But what will Adam’s be allowed to spend on AHL goalies?

I still like Hommie’s idea. Toss some cash at Malkin, Letang and MAF… but it just won’t happen for so many reasons

I cannot root against a team that plays a style like the Panthers do.

It's a style the whole league should adopt.

And you're right to do so. UPL will almost certainly be goalie 1A despite his long injury history. They'll most likely bring in someone like Greiss, Jones, Koskinen or Campbell on a short deal. It is what it is I guess

The bar is set at anyone under 40. KA's a master of lowering expectations.

Caps were a bad draw for the Panthers. Caps will grind them down. Florida loves soft players!

Cool, don’t care. I care about what’s good for the Sabres. And if they eventually win a cup clutch and grab style I’d still take it. Pick 24 will be substantially better than 30/32.

I'd say the bar is set at "not Aaron Dell"

Plenty of fans would welcome back Anderson as a legitimate option. I'm not one of them

What's good for the Sabres would be management who actually tries to ice a winning team and knows what the (frank) they're doing.

Until then, I don't give a poop about pick 24 or 32, as it won't matter.

It's a fine line between cynicism and realism. I expect very little in terms of meaningful upgrades this offseason.

Just reading the tea leaves from KA
