Pick one of Aplund or Girgensons, move the other and spend to bring in a real, established top-6 forward who can help make this a team to genuinely compete with the aging giants in the East.
Also 2 goalie upgrades. I'd count on UPL for absolutely nothing and hope he pleasantly surprises.
Mason Marchment is a perfect fit for the Sabres as a UFA forward.
High compete, solid skater, skilled, big, physical, annoying to play against, and produces points.
He should be on the Sabres radar. - kingcong39
He’d be a very welcomed addition, but it sounds like this sort of move isn’t in line with Gerbs’ “draft and develop” approach. This type of player may be far too much to hope for.
But whoever proposed the Shea Weber idea, that sounds like a more realistic possibility.

I do not disagree! I was tempering expectations! But yes, UPL is an oft injured RFA. I’d like to see if he can have a healthy season with the big club. Which is why losing both college goalies could hurt. They could get the cup of coffee while UPL is on the shelf.
I guess you could do…
New Tendy 1
Larry Tendy 2
UPL
Suban.
But what will Adam’s be allowed to spend on AHL goalies?
I still like Hommie’s idea. Toss some cash at Malkin, Letang and MAF… but it just won’t happen for so many reasons

Imagine it looks more like this:
Someone
UPL
Tokarski/Subban/random journeyman #3
Houser/cheap depth guy

And you're right to do so. UPL will almost certainly be goalie 1A despite his long injury history. They'll most likely bring in someone like Greiss, Jones, Koskinen or Campbell on a short deal. It is what it is I guess

The bar is set at anyone under 40. KA's a master of lowering expectations.
I cannot root against a team that plays a style like the Panthers do.
It's a style the whole league should adopt. - kingcong39
Cool, don’t care. I care about what’s good for the Sabres. And if they eventually win a cup clutch and grab style I’d still take it. Pick 24 will be substantially better than 30/32.

What's good for the Sabres would be management who actually tries to ice a winning team and knows what the (frank) they're doing.
Until then, I don't give a poop about pick 24 or 32, as it won't matter.
