No one actually said he should be fired.
- TheSabresTaco

24 suggested KA should be fired if he doesn't make splash moves to form a winning team.

We both know what KA said at the presser....
Not a lot of spots available

You think firing KA should be a priority? Seriously, he's put a magic touch on this team.
The eichel trade is so underrated...

lacrap wants Adams to trade Krebs and the Vegas 1st for Patrick Kane. He also wants Adams to offer insane contracts to Patrice Bergeron and Johnny Gadreau, and also give MAF and Malkin 1 year deals.

I actually like the management group. I want it to work out.

I don’t like the escaping of expectations they are getting away with

There should be a bar for next season

- sbroads24

Imagine thinking "Status quo" is not good enough next year.

Apparently its outrageous to think that.

I know you do. You've expressed as much.

I believe, honestly, that a bar is set for next year, and I believe Don and Kevyn directly stated as much yesterday. I believe that they would insist that anything that falls short of the end of this season (3/1-4/29) would be a disappointment.

I think it's completely acceptable to temper expectations and not claim playoffs are required and all that. They expect to be on the goalie market. As anyone in Buffalo knows. And they know they need to keep "Building" up.

The roster we have, the age of the players we have, it's the only sensible direction. As long as they are provided a top 4 D and a respectable goalie tandem (as alluded to in the presser), I consider that intentional improvement.

If you were expecting this team to contend for the playoffs next year, it's hard to come out of that press conference encouraged. My only hope is that he is playing his cards very close to the vest and trying not to overpromise anything.

He didin't, he used the words 'fireable offense' and 'splash' is as subjective as you can get. A top 4 D and a goalie is required. Not providing this team with such is neglectful at best.

Is that the 102 point pace? Cuz that's playoffs. I still think they're drinking drugs if they believe that happens by only adding a 1B goalie and a defenseman

Yeah I mean it’s insane to me to not want this team to make the minimal improvements such as a legit starting goalie and a top 6 RD and from what Adams sounds like that’s not even guaranteed

You know because Levi might be here 2-3 years from now

Absolutely

Clearly bare minimum, we need a good goaltender.

Pretty sure he meant more than the minimum though.

I think that pace would be hard to keep throughout the season, because it's clear that the top eschelon teams are better than us. Boston, Carolina, Florida, Tampa, Colorado, Calgary, probably beating us 8/10 times. Every other team, we have a real shot on any given night. That in of itself is a vast improvement.

But that style of play, that cohesiveness, that attacking, relentless, never say die style needs to stay. The talent and skill will grow with the ongoing development of the roster core.

Adding a 1A goalie with the competence level of Ullmark and a veteran top 4 defender will have this team legitimately competing for the playoffs. If they play like they did from March on, for the majority of the season, mark my words, we'll be fighting for it.

I still think you need to beef up your Top 6 forward group to get there as well. That group might be good enough to get you there when fully healthy, but one injury slots a few guys into spots they have no business being in. The game in Carolina still sticks out to me. When Kyle Okposo is even a consideration when down by a goal with 2 minutes left, let alone actually on the ice, your forward group still isn't good enough.

"That" goalie really isn't available in UFA, but I think he's not interested in grabbing a long term starter, a 2021 Grubauer of sorts. He wants short term (1-2 years) stop gaps. I think they truly believe Levi is in Buffalo, at latest, in 24-25. UPL needs to show he can be relied on next season. Or he'll be riding 1 year deals to UFA.

the bruin game last week showed we need another 20 goal scorer that is not afraid to go to the dirty areas

at the very least a rugged d man that can play 15 minutes a night

and 1 goalie that can play 50 games a year

It's a nice idea. I think it's also a lesser priority as the other two though. I don't hate the idea of a trade or a UFA. I also don't want to box out Peterka.

They love Mittelstadt, I think he stays under normal circumstances. Olofsson if I were to bet, they'd re-sign. Sure they can trade Bjork for a scrap or just keep him as the spare forward. I just don't see a fit for a top 6 F if you go off of the assumptive adds of Jack and JJ.

Especially if they want a 4C.

Appreciate the post,

I'm ok with joker playing top 4 minutes, think he proved to be a young vet with the younger defenseman

We need a goalie

Hard for me to bring in any more top forwards, quinn and peterka will need time to develop.

Maybe a hard nosed 5th defenseman ?
