That kid has played well for them 3-0, Kotchekov and he's really young

Raanta just left the game, looked like he took a right hook

If this playoffs doesn’t prove we need more than 1 goalie I don’t know what to say.

First period report:

1 ) Belleville is huge

2.) The Refs won't call any penalties

Roch is at a massive size/physicality disadvantage and the refs aren't inclined to call any penalties

UPL getting hurt again should have told him that. Don't think he's made it through a 15gm stretch yet without getting hurt. Even if Adams made 1 acquisition this off-season it should be a 1A goalie. If UPL beats him out so be it. Even if Levi signs next year he still 3yrs away.

They need to get two. UPL won’t be able to stay healthy. It’s the only thing he has proved in his pro career.

Also I heard this year there was the most ever goalies suited up for one season. Not sure how much more teams adds to that but I also wonder if the way the game is being played is causing more goalie injuries too

Rochester looks disinterested - Dell let in a bad goal on the 1st shot and refereeing is beyond atrocious - 3 blatant trips ignored along with constant interference.

Don't think there's any question that these compressed schedules destroy goalies.

People penciling in Quinn and Peterka as if it’s not possible they aren’t ready or won’t struggle is absurd to me

They’re complete NHL unknowns. For all we know they make us worse as rookies

- sbroads24

It just isn't possible because of who they are replacing. Have we not learned anything this year? Much of the improvement in the team came because we were faster than the other teams we were playing. Paterka was probably our best player in the preseason and he could have easily spent the year here (I am glad he didn't). Quinn's shot and playmaking abilities will travel well. The improvement in our bottom 6 will be immense once you put in the two kids and find a competent center to play between Okposo and Girgs.

Again, we will be ridding our lineup of two and maybe three completely useless players.

If we want to pretend to know how two rookies will do that’s just not something I’m willing to predict

Peyton Krebs had god awful on ice impacts and was our worst forward by a significant margin, and yea that’s including Eakin. He isn’t going anywhere.

I Expect Tokarski back and sure the schedule has to do some damage, lot of wear and tear on the bigger goalie's now.

Where are you going with this? If it goes so poorly that they need to send someone down, it's not the end of the world.

Aren't you Mr. Continuity?

I don't care who their #3 is next year, as long as he's NHL-viable.

Yeah I want them to resign him. I would have liked them to sign one of the college undrafted guys too sign both Levi and ports are going back to school. They really need two more goalies. One with extensive nhl time

The schedule is more compressed? Today is the anniversary of the Drury goal and that was in the 2nd round. I don’t know what it is, but there is definitely a shift to two goalies. Like starting pitchers hardly ever getting quality starts. I looked at goalie stats while I was admiring the number of 40 goal scorers to see how many 40 game winning goalies there were. Not one. I guess that’s a thing of the past now.

Again, it would be something if we were projecting them into the top 6 or top 4. We aren't. Our bottom 6 largely mediocre and it will be better next year. I am not expecting the kids to come in and score 30 but I can expect them to be worlds better than the future bartenders that they are replacing.

Yes and no. Barkov Huberdeau and Ekblad have been there since drafted, but there are only three others who were on the roster when NYI spanked them out of the qualifying round in the Toronto Bubble Games 2 years ago.
Weegar is another, and iirc, that was Bob and Acciari’s first season in FL.

Not saying to sell the farm or whatever, but KA needs to start adding more pieces where he sees a need. The kids who would be “blocked” will just have to step it up and win a roster spot/ice time.

Edit( that’s part of why FL has done so well this season, everybody earned their roster spot, and if performance drops there is someone more than capable of taking their spot from them. Internal competition will only help to become a really good team.

- Ratsreign

The Panthers had the luxury of being able to give only two guys(forwards, obviously) light first round minutes.

They had 2 guys score at least 30 goals playing less than 18 minutes a night and one of them barely played 15.

It's easy to have internal competition when you have such an embarrassment of riches.

It’s that a lot of this penciled in roster for 2022/23 is completely unproven and leaving spots open for them when upgrades could/will be available is really a short sighted vision

That's the only part of Adams presser I really didn't like was what he said about the goalie situation. Even if Levi signs next off-season, he's still probably 4yrs away from playing 40 or 50 games full time hopefully.

Sure, league was basically shut down for a while, some teams more than others. 4 (and even 5) game weeks are brutal.

I agree with what you're saying too.

I wouldn't put too much stock into anything he said about the future. He really can't come out and say that he is going to hunt high and low for a starting goalie because there is no reason to do so.

Also, college kids come in and play pretty quickly all of the time. If he isn't up here for at least a look within a year there is a bigger problem.
