I just have to put this out there. So all this talk of playing with grit. Sign zak or not. Get players blah blah blah.
The great Matthew thachuk had over 100 points this season. You it surprise anyone to know he had absolutely ZERO 5 minute penalties this year?
The definition of gritty is different than era before. It’s not part of this nhl.
I’d love to know what “gritty” these players people want… zak is not gritty. He’s a fake goon. Absolutely not needed.
The team is soft because they play soft. They are out willed and out skilled all over the ice.
You know how you fix that? With skill top end and elite players. Start there. |

That Ellis situation really is a bomb waiting to go off in their face. I mean, all the players say that you can't replicate game shape. This reeks of the same exact thing happening next season. All seems well and good, and then he takes it to that next level physically come game time and goes to mush again. Just awful scenario there. Thanks! |

The medical staff here needs to go.
These fools letting players go before healed is getting old.
The Ice needs to be inspected cause there is a reason we seem to lead the league in core surgeries year after year.

I've been saying this until I'm red, white and blue in the face. This team is way too slow and soft! And yes, it's not about dropping the gloves. The league isn't about that anymore. It's about winning puck battles and being tough to play against, and having the talent to do something with the puck while you possess it. This team is severely lacking in these aspects of the game. Thanks again! |

I’ll also add just like fake migraine boy they lie.
Ellis if true had these problems with diagnosis that’s dumb. Your doctors blow then. There’s no way it takes that long for a pro athlete to diagnose. Yes there’s a process but surely a pro athlete isn’t waiting months to see a specialist like regular folk. There’s zero chance even if the process showed multi layered problems it took until recently to diagnose.
It makes more sense they knew back toward middle of season and decided not to have surgery and just shut it down.
In which case just say that. But flyers don’t do that because they need to play this pr game and narrative to try to keep fans paying money.
And more than likely if these problems were so bad some sort of surgery is needed and he’ll miss time next season. |

Exactly. Agree 100%. That’s how you play with grit. Control the damn puck and win battles with skill and speed. It’s amazing the powers that be can’t see this. And we know this by signing coots to 8 years as top 1c and risto extension
Only hope is these dinosaurs moved out and possibly briere takes over. At least he would probably know this because he’s from this century. Not that he necessarily would be more than a mouthpiece for corp propaganda but at least hope.
I mean can the bar set any lower? |

I’d like to also add it’s kinda scary when fletch says things in press conference about team needs to get more top end talent etc..
I think it’s obvious they don’t even know what that is…
Signing risto shows they have zero clue what talent is. |

Some unexpected players hit career highs in points this year. I think all of them except Mika were exposed in the expansion draft. Pavelski age 37 go figure.
Matt Duchene - 86
Vladimir Tarasenko - 82
Joe Pavelski - 81
Mika Zibanejad - 81
Mats Zuccarello - 79 |

kudo to Hart for not deflecting.
Fourth-line center Nate Thomson, a potential UFA, said he wants to continue playing and that he was “still chasing that shiny mug.”
Scot Laughotn can STFU and hopefully he is traded.
Fesity RW Zack MacEwen said he felt “the love and support from the fans all season and that he fed off the crowd’s energy during his fights. “If I get people fired up, I get fired up,” said the potential RFA, who won the fan club’s Gene Hart award for showing the most heart on the team.
Seeler, a UFA, said he got positive feedback from management. He hopes to remain with the Flyers.
Patrick Brown said “fighting a bunch of fluky injuries” was difficult and he is “blessed to have another year on my contract” and come back better. |

This was the highest scoring NHL season in 3 decades, meanwhile the Flyers leading scorer had 52 points, and they averaged 2.57 goals per game. - PLindbergh31
yup it was a bad season they have a good chance at 1st overall this year and hopefully we can have a good chance next year to build a team around a talented core |

Would that be similar to your crooning that Provorov doesn't want to be here?

That’s actually not correct. 100% team salary and cap hits absolutely are a factor in agent’s negotiations for their clients. As is other players around the league. The agent wouldn’t be worth a grain of salt if he didn’t use everything at his disposal to get as much as he can for his client. - Stayin alive
As Bill said RRs deal has nothing to do w Sanheim. Irrelevant. |

Seattle has to win to get a point against Winnipeg. They have more regulation wins than the Flyers. - bmeltzer
Bill, Seattle is up in RWs. Doesn’t that mean they have the tie breaker?
Gotta say the Philly media kinda let us down here. Not saying you, Bill. This just seems to be pretty basic stuff.
Why is this such a difficult question? |

'None of this is factual at all. Not one person has posted about fighting being considered grit. Grit is about "firmness of character; indomitable spirit; pluck.
One thing Macewen does well is work hard and play with energy. Every shift he is out there, he's giving it his all. He gets into dirty areas and he works hard to gain possession. Macewen is not soft. He doesnt have the skill so he has to overcompensate with hard work.
I agree that the Flyers need more skill but they need someone with the same grit Macewen brings. What you described is an enforcer. Someone who is there to do nothing but fight. That is not Macewen.
Macewen is an mediocre 4th liner for the regular season. He's the type of player you replace at the trade deadline for someone like a Maroon, Goodrow or Coleman. The other benefit is Macewen's work ethic can rub off on the younger guys

There is no benefit whatsoever to having MacEwen in the lineup. This work ethic nonsense and having it rub off on others is the nonsense the Flyers keep believing in and placing too high of a value on over other more important attributes.

Sure cause he is the problem. How about we find 3 or 4 dmen before we worry about the 4th line.
Our best d is Sanheim who is pro a 4 on a good team and prov has not played good hockey in forever but sure let’s rip the 4th line |
