That doesn’t really hurt the Jets drafting argument. That’s likely most of the significant players over the course of about a decade through 16 teams! Not sure which side you’re arguing tbh.

another article on drafting from 2018, ranked the Jets 12th best.

so in summary, overall the Jets are in the top half of the NHL for drafting but need some work in later rounds. but we're better than most teams overall

Let’s go down memory lane.

When this team relocated to Winnipeg, Lawless reported about “The Atlanta 5” as being the problem.

That attention shifted onto Evander Kane. Subsequently Kane wanted out of Winnipeg. Bogosian also wanted out of Winnipeg. And as such both were dealt. Kane had challenges no doubt, however he was bullied by “the 5”. I am also thinking that Bogo may also have been bullied by 33, in order for 33 to preserve his spot.

While the “Atlanta 5” was still running the room, Trouba (due to legal issues with his father did not want to play for a Canadian franchise) was selected. He wanted out of Winnipeg. He was also considered a problem then. I do though think he took a liking to the city once he developed a friendship with 55. He was also lucky that the franchise selected his best friend in Copp.

The “Atlanta 5” by this point had become the “Atlanta 4”. Ladd was dealt and Enstrom left under mysterious circumstances. He was very upset when he left Winnipeg. I remember Scheifele speaking about the time that Byfuglien invited him to the back of the plane to play cards with “the big boys”. This is where the indoctrination of good guy 55 turned into bully 55. Byfuglien and Wheeler were/are bullies.

Laine gets drafted by Winnipeg. He’s a nice guy. Some people called him “generational”. Laine goes off in a Finnish newspaper about how his offense was whack because he was playing with Bryan Little (Atlanta 5) member. His fate from that point on was sealed. He was a problem. He had to go to.

After Little got hurt only 2 members of the 5 remained. Even then something seemed to be amiss between the 2. Byfuglien ends up leaving this franchise under suspicious terms. I do believe that Trouba may have stayed if it were not for Big Buff. Trouba believed he was the number 1 right side D, but Buff (who had coach Maurice’s ear) disagreed. If Byfuglien bullied Kane and possibly Bogosian out of the locker room, what’s to say that he did not do the same to Trouba? Just some thoughts.

In the interim, the 5 have become 1. Even after the 2019 season when Scheifele clearly did not want to be at the press conference, 26 said “he would run through a brick wall” for Maurice. It seemed that Maurice and 26 were too close. 55 at that point to me checked out of the entire situation. For some reason since that point, something shifted for my boy. I also think that 26 and 33 may have felt threatened by 55’s new friendships he had created with Copp and Trouba. They must have felt they were losing influence in the room by that point. So Trouba for sure had to go then and he was dealt that offseason.

Now it does not matter. We still have 26 for 2 more years. We have even brought in his buddy 25. Sure 25 speaks a good game but he is close to Wheeler. This brings up more thoughts. Has 26 poisoned 27? 81? 37? 80? The list goes on.

Chevy’s biggest mistake ever was keeping the Atlanta guys around way too long. And, here he is the guy that’s going to correct the ship!

Forgot to add, I wonder how much of 26’s influence also rubbed 28 the wrong way that he also wanted out of Winnipeg.
