Something else to worry about in a few years, thanks Benning, Pettersson’s salary the last year of his current deal is 10.25 million. Fuck me….now, if he turns into a 90 plus point player, fine, if not, another issue down the road. - LeftCoaster
You are the classic Canuck fan. Having good players is a problem. |

No, the problem is overpaying players which is what has been set up. A 3 year deal for 7.35 where the 4th year essentially starts at 10.25. For a guy that likes to pretend he's smart you sure do miss a lot. |

Because OEL has trade value and Myers doesn't?
I'm just saying OEL is a better player than Myers. OEL clearly has a worse contract and if you can somehow offload that it'd be way more beneficial than offloading Myers'. - NewYorkNuck
OEL and Myers are pretty equal. OEL isn't carrying Myers. OEL's contract is 2 times worse than Myers.
To be successful, most assets need to go round and round. OEL's contract is pretty negative already I would say. Myers in 2 years should still be worth something. |

That’s not even remotely what I was concerned about. Having Petey is great, having to pay a 7 million dollar player 10.25 million dollars is not. But we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. |

When you become an NHL executive let us all know. Alright? I mean clearly you are smarter than NHL personnel. That's about all I missed there. |

Every time a contract is signed somehow in here it's too much even though there are MANY other comparable contracts handed out every single year.

Just food for thought. This is a hockey board where people talk about hockey, in case you weren’t aware.
With Myers & OEL currently being overpaid, and potentially Boeser, I’d like to get out from under those scenarios.
At the end of the day someone is always overpaid on every team, let’s just not aim for three or four of them. |

Just saw this on Twitter, why is this?
“It is absolutely amazing to me that Jett Woo, supposedly the best right-handed defenceman prospect in the #Canucks system, spent both games of the Abbotsford Canucks’ brief playoffs — and most of the latter half of the regular season — as a fourth-line forward.
Development!” |

Saying a contract is not bad by comparing it to other bad contracts doesn’t make it true. 90% of the contracts of nhl players are bad. Period. |

You mean like saying someone is bad at zone exits statistically, then not posting any statistics whatsoever? |

You would think your eye test would have been able to see that. |

Cool, you do the same. Also let us know when you become an NHL scout.
Besides, Benning is not an NHL executive so there's that. I guess you missed it. |

Qualifying offers were changed to average not last year though. Weren't they?

Yet here you are to defend them every time, and then lament about them later.
My notebook has you loving the Myers deal, now all of a sudden you're saying championship calibre clubs have better 3rd pairing players.
It's OK, I'll check my notebook in another couple of years when EP's deal is up. |

To borrow some logic, it's because there are other bad right handed D prospects on other clubs as well |

No, it's in disagreement with your stats. 5 players are responsible for zone exits, not 1 or 2. |

We need relative zone exit stats. Hockey cannot survive without it. |

Full of wisdom this morning eh.
Myers and OEL aren't living up to their contracts perfectly. There are very few that play to their contracts.

How did Benning manage to hand out a contract if he isn't an NHL executive? |

How about just get contracts down to the point they are not all complaining g all the time about how much they “lose “ in escrow payments. |

You say I miss things. When you and I talk, you manage to create a narrative that really doesn't speak to what I say. Almost as if you have pre planned an answer to what I will say without actually reading it. |

The same way Mike Milbury did. Thanks for playing. |
