Goodrow didnt take enough faceoffs last night is what it comes down to, Chytil took too many - jimbro83
In the OT I’m pretty sure I saw Laf taking some draws. I doubt they try Kakko with his wrist injury. |

I think Chytil got tossed once and Laf took one
I just don't think he's gonna stick with the kid line, although overall I liked the way they played, and lets face it, they scored a goal

Goodrow won 2 out of 7 draws, far from elite. |

I thought they played great. Laf since the benching has elevated his game and Kakko is getting his game together. I think Chytil since the injury has been much better also. If they can continue to play this way eventually they’ll start getting some breaks. |

My bigger issue are the clean losses. Not the ones where there is a scrum and Pitt gets the puck. But the clean ones where they can use a set play, as they did on Kapanen shot late in the second overtime |

I think Goodrow's track record shows if he takes more faceoffs they are probably gonna even out a bit overall
that's a small sample size for him
we know that Chytil is awful at it and probably needs Goodrow with him more than Rooney does
I'm not saying not to keep the kids together at least for the part part of the game tomorrow, but if Chytil continues to get roasted something needs to be adjusted mid game |

I'm still amazed that a game that went 6 periods, Pittsburgh only committed one foul! Boy are they disciplined!!! - TheMessiah94
This is sadly something I think most of us knew the Rangers would be dealing with before the puck even dropped. There have been some close heated games and series over the years that as a fan, make you think - "that was a bs call etc." With Pit, it seems to be beyond that. You can tinfoil hat this is the Crosby affect with Bettman, or sports betting, but there comes a time where the optics aren't good for the game. There is and has been present a sense of impropriety specifically with the Penguins for quite some time.
I can objectively admit that while the Lindgren hit wasn't malicious in intent, his follow through did cause harm and he should have been tossed. The over turned goal however, 100% was a good goal based on current rules. The officiating in this game was horrid. If the Rangers lose to the Pens, or anyone else for that matter, I'm good. I can't stand watching them lose to the refs. Calling everything they did early on 1 team, giving a 5 on 3, then swallowing your whistle for the next 3 1/2 periods so much that you're afraid to call icing? Ridiculous. Call them all, or let them play EQUALLY. The Rangers need to play hard with discipline and look to win by more than 1 goal every game to remove as much of the black and white stripe influence as they can.

Last night stings big time, but it’s still a 7 game series and a lot can change. Outside of the 2nd period I thought overall the Rangers were the better team |

I just watched a replay of that and he's literally looking right at his chest and looks like he can take the body, but just does that horrible stick check and gets smoked. |

I also remember the Garden ice being known as poor. Must have been addressed when they renovated the building. - Tonybere
Renovations a few years ago improved ice, but lets not forget that the circus no longer takes over MSG for the month of March and the Knicks don't occupy the building now because they can't make the playoffs... |

Just jealous really. The Pens drafted 3 generational once-in-a-lifetime players (full-on tanking twice for 2 of them) in my lifetime whereas the Flyers had to buy one - who's shortened career was the result of a) not picking up his head enough, and b) playing during the clutch-and-grab era. - Pixote Andolini

I'm guessing the Ads in the ice below the goal line are the national sponsors of the NHL playoffs. In order to put those they would have had to melt the ice and then refreeze it. MSg also just had the big chick boxing match so I doubt they had ample time to put in the ads and get the ice back to normal.

I’m sure I’ll get yelled at for this, because I do for everything I say, but Blake Lizotte man. This kid is what they could use, 24 yr old bottom 6 center. Can absolutely fly..Over 50% already on draws. He’s 5’9…Imagine a line of motte-REAVES-lizotte.

Super hard clean hit. Didn't leave his feet, chest was the contact point. Sucked seeing him not be able to get up on his own, no penalty was warranted though.
Great chippy game from both teams.
Would love for the Rangers come out hard like last night but sustain the pressure through the whole game.
Reaves was hitting everyone in the first. In a long series you need a guy like that to wear down the opponent. We came out flat in the second after taking the dreaded two goal lead and allowed Pitt back into the game. They are a seasoned playoff team that we had better get the drop on tomorrow night before we completely lose home ice.
