Not yet.
I planned a trip a few years ago slightly spur of the moment. Got tickets, booked a room in midtown and flights. Then the wife started freaking out about being swamped with report cards and said she wouldn't go. Told me to go with someone else, but the flight was in our names and really, for my 1st trip to NYC I wanted it to be with her. So, I scrapped it. Couldn't get out of the flight, so it cost me almost $300 to NOT go to my first home Rangers game. - Tonybere
That's too bad. Hopefully you make it down here eventually. |

All comes down to special teams. We are better 5v5 since the deadline but our bread (no pun intended) and butter is our PP. It's not viable to win with only 2 min of PP time per game, especially when the opponent is getting 4x that. Some of that is on us, most of that is simply the refs swallowing their whistle for the Pens. Conspiracy theories are largely dumb and toxic but in this case I guess I am putting on my tinfoil hat. The calls just seem to go the Pens way 9/10 times. 100+ minutes of hockey and they had ONE penalty. That is unrealistic, especially considering the petulant nature of some of their players. Also, we have to keep being as physical as we were in the first period of the last game. It will wear them down. Guentzel should be put on his ass every time he's out there putting people in headlocks
Yes, everyone knows it's likely that the NHL is trying to screw over an original 6 team and the largest US market in the league by favoring their opponent. |

Look man. I don’t think there’s a league wide conspiracy to boost the pens. I just think that for whatever reason calls go their way more often than other teams. |

But that's what youre implying. You say you dont believe in a league conspiracy, but you think the calls go their way more often than not? Could it be because the league wants Pittsburgh to win (even though they have nothing to gain from that)... or is it simply because a lot of calls in this league are 50/50 grey area calls where no one has a clear understanding of the rules?
Goaltender interference is one of the hardest things to call, even when slowed down and reviewed. It easily could've gone your way instead of our way. If Kapanen ran over your goalie and that exact play happened... would you be saying it was a goal?
Pittsburgh didnt take a lot of penalties this year, mostly because 1) Of our stars, Malkin takes the most and he missed most of the year 2) Pittsburgh is not a big or physical team 3) Pittsburgh is an older team that knows how to play the game. They know how far they can push it while staying out of the box.
In all seriousness, if you wanted to argue the Crosby lottery was rigged, I would 100% get it. I wouldnt agree because I think the league is run by morons and they couldnt rig a draft if they tried, but I admit the conditions are there
Im not trying to sound like a d!ck, because I like your guys' comment section and I enjoy being here, especially when our teams play. |

I do think the penalty calling was/is uneven but I can't believe there is anything to it other than the Pens being experts at not getting caught. |

i'm not implying leaguewide conspiracies. probably more like a subconscious bias. it wont be productive for me to get into it with a penguins fan on what i think about certain players (and your coach). what i will say is that there are quite a few players in the league i despise with my whole heart and none of them are on the penguins. the penguins are greater than the sum of their parts when it comes to how much they annoy me as a team. obviously you are a fan of that team and you probably like them for all of the reasons i dislike them, which i get. so this probably won't get very far in terms of discourse |

I'd like to jump in here to say that I agree 100% with what you have listed here. But despite that, I find it amusing that your board is filled with guys whining that the league obviously favours NY citing the lotto wins and Lindgren only getting 2 minutes. While at the same time rejecting out of hand the idea that Pitt might see that same favouritism.
What I thought was surprising about the non-goal was that a) it wasn't ruled no goal in live time and b) they thought there was clear evidence to overturn the initial call.
That one was a close call that I can see a case for either way. What had me pretty hot was calling Trouba to put us down 5 on 3 when that same crosscheck by Crosby on Lindgren at even strength went uncalled and created a scoring chance for Pitt.
For the love of God, is consistent reffing too much to ask for?

Yes Tony, it is. Look at what happened to MadBum the other day in Arizona. The ump basically challenged him and then immediately threw him out of the game when something was said. These guys are too comfortable and are interjecting themselves too often instead of just calling what is in front of them. |

I hate to be the guy to say it...
I think if that goal stood Tuesday night there is AT LEAST a 50/50 chance we give up a tying goal with Pitt's goalie pulled.. Just seems like something that would happen no? |
