Frost isn't 23 yet. This was his 22 year old season, and he didn't have a 21 year old season due to the should injury.
Some players just take longer. Think Dallas now regrets simply giving up on Nichushkin at age 24 after his 0G, 10A, 0 PIM in 56 game season (his 4th North American pro season)? He's now a 25G, 52-point scorer for Colorado.
I will say it again: Give Frost more than the 11th most PP time among forwards. Keep him on a line with 2 bonafide NHL players and not two good AHL/NHL fill-in players and you'll see his production increase significantly.
Much of this season was spent unlearning things that worked for him in the OHL but not the NHL. Eventually, he did start moving his feet more consistently, using his body better, and then regaining lost confidence. As with Tippett, Frost's points over the final 15 games didn't match the quality of his play.
On Exit Day, Couturier called the line with Frost and Tippett the team's best line in the final 10-15 games. - bmeltzer
Then why did this incompetent coach and GM not do this? It was a very simple approach. Especially the PP.
Hope Chuck and Scott are watching these playoffs. If they are and still think they can turn it around then it is 100% hopeless. Flyers so far away and anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.
Well ex selke also was instrumental in bringing back Nate. So what he thinks doesn't mean much. Besides tallest midget syndrome. |

What was more competitive?
The last 2 Flyers seasons or the Fedoruk/Orr fight? |

I'm not a Frost fan but I think the Flyers must give Frost and all their promising young players a full season of play under a new coach to see what they can do. The worst thing Fletcher can do it overreact to the current season and make more short-sighted trades. I don't mind moving on from JVR and maybe signing a few veteran depth guys, but other than less is more in this off season IMO. - jd250
You do not need a few veteran depth guys. Yet you also say give the young guys a chance with a new coach.
so which is it, vet depth guys or in house guys?

Yes, the team currently is a poorly structured defensive team, but Provorov is part of the problem. Its not like he is playing well and its his partners that are screwing up all the time. In the end I agree with you in that if the Flyers are going to improve next season, Provorov and all their veteran players have to be healthy and play much better. - jd250
I agree to an extent. Just like RR was part of the problem in Buffalo.
Team being bad defensively doesn't mean he needs to also be bad. He may need a change of scenery. For that I blame Saint Ronnie as he set him up for failure. One of the very few things Chuck has done right is try to get another good dman to play with ivan. He had the right idea just hasn't worked out with ellis and Niskanen.

Youre not funny so people read it in the context of your usual moron-ness. THANKS! - THE BLACK HAND You're another clown without a sense of humor. Except you have even less of a sense of humor than the other turd which one would think would be impossible. The scary part about you is that you think your little stupid quips on here are actually funny when they are usually the most moronic statements known to mankind. You've been owned again! Thanks again! You're still mad cause I don't like your Sixers. Now why don't you take your bunched up panties and run away little girl! Thanks yet again!!!

Cliff do you think Ivan or Sanheim should be on the top pair with Ellis?

Twisting what a third line player could potentially do, by using the ice time argument as if ice time can’t go up and down was your downfall.
- SuperSchennBros
If his ice time were to go up... that would mean he'd no longer be a third line player...

Some unfortunately view what line a player is on based on some published list of the order of lines rather than actual usage. As if a player who is among the leaders in ES ice time could be a 3rd line player because their line is listed as the 3rd line. Ice time equals opportunity as you have previously pointed out. To save myself some time, I should've just pointed out that you are wasting your time.

So glad the Phillies got a big opening series game win last night. I was a little bummed they couldn't shut them out, but with a 7-1 lead heading into the bottom the 8th, I'll take the win any way I can get it. I was tired though, so I went to bed and couldn't stay to see the last out. Please tell me the Phils added at least a couple runs to their lead..... |

Even a 4 year old could understand exactly what I’ve presented to you. Briere, Richards, Carter all played center on separate lines in Richards and Carter’s third seasons in the NHL. Briere finished that season with 72 points. Mike Richards 75 points. Jeff Carter with 53 points. So you tell me who the third line center was that season who impossibly achieved 50 plus points that season.
If a player is good enough, it doesn’t matter what line they’re on. They’ll get their points and increase third ice time.
Perfect example. A checking third line center will see a lot of ice time, if they’re checking the other team’s best players.
Any other words of mine you’d like to make up? |

RR Part of the problem in Buffalo? How do you figure? The made little improvement this season and much of that was due to Dhalin playing better and players like Thompson, Skinner, Dhalin, Olofsson, Okposo, Tuch and Cozens having better years. What about Reinhart and Eichel, were they part of the problem too? They all got moved too.
Dhalin was -36 in 2020-21 with 23 points, thay jumped to -22 and 53 points. Not to mention his PP production doubled. Ristolainen never played with Dhalin
Skinner had a measly 14 points in 2020-21. This season had 63 points.
Olofsson had a career season at 49 points
Okposo had his best season sin 2015-16
Cozens tripled his point production from his rookie season
Their goaltending was also more stable. They didnt use 5-6 guys over the course of the season like they did the year prior. Ulmark was better than their goalies this year but he only played 20 games due to injury. The rest of the time the goalies sported a 3.5GAA That dropped to 3.22 approx

A 3rd line player doesnt get 21 mins of ice time. He might have been on the 3rd line at one point but clearly it didnt last. The point is Frost is not going to get 21 mins of ice time on the Flyers 3rd line. You are basically expecting Frost to get 1 point every second game. So getting 40 points with 14 min TOI is not realistic.
Richards was 1st PK, 1st PP as well. Things Frost will not have either.
