To Arizona
D Erik Brannstrom
7th Overall Pick
To Ottawa
Jakob Chychrun
2022 1st (COL or CAR, whichever is lower on draft day)
When you posted this and asked me if it was simple enough for me I thought you were joking. I did not realize you were being serious. You get my vote for the next Ottawa GM.
Is your real name George McPhee? - Whatisavailable
Lmfao why would Arizona even think of this trade 😂🤦♂️ Hard No from Ari 🙄 |

your country needs to pass a law making it a capital crime to have more than 1 leafs article in the first 10 "pages" of a sports news site...this is ridiculous, barely anything on the flames or oilers... |

If Dubois is a possibility to trade for, I'd be much more game for that instead of Fiala. He lacks the right shot handleless but would add more depth to the top 6 undoubtably. In my mind, a 7th overall pick should get that deal done if the Jets are looking to retool. Top 10 picks should have significant trade value.
Depending on what happens with Florida in the playoffs, Claude Giroux could be a decent signing if the the term is right and only costs you cash and no assets.
The more I think about defence targets, the more I like the idea of trying to snag Dumba from Minny with the cap situation. If you move the 1st rounder for Dubois, you will have to get more creative with a trade but if you add Dumba to the defence corps, you can afford to give up a prospect like Thomson or Bernard Docker plus.
Chychrun would also be a nice addition. He is left handiness, so there would need to be some slot juggling, but could be a fit. The price tag is likely higher for him than it would be for Dumba. Yotes seem to be in no hurry to move him unless the price is right.
Some stars have to align but, I don't think having these 3 types of move is totally unrealistic to happen. Especially, if you want to show the players, fans, and league that you want to make a move to be competitive. - Gord_Wilson_2.0
Not interested in moving Thomson+ or JBD+ for Dumba. JBD looks to be at least a solid third pairing guy while Thomson will be top 4 and you don't have to give anything away plus pay Dumba 6 million + if he decides to stay. Think top 6 winger instead. |

Perhaps you missed my suggestion of trading for Dubois and signing Giroux in addition to acquiring a Dumba/Chychrun. That's two top 6 forwards.
No real reason why more than one hole can't be addressed in the offseason unless you limit yourself to only moving the 7th overall pick, which I can certainly see happening. This team has a recent history of holding onto prospects/young players until their trade value flops. Obviously budget issues are a real thing in the Ottawa market, but maybe those reigns loosen with Eugene no longer calling the shots.
Admittedly, my suggestion needs stars to align a bit and have teams have different asking prices and not just wanting that 7th overall pick. Additionally, defensemen can be costly on the trade market. I don't think it will happen, but it's nice to think about. |

I agree it's nice to think about all kinds of things. I'm not against signing Giroux but I somehow think he would be reluctant to come on board for a three year deal. The Dubois option is interesting but where do you play him? I'm happy with Norris and Stutzle as the top six centers.
I don't think they need to trade for a top 4 D because I trust that Sanderson and Thomson will compliment Chabot and Zub quite well so why give them away for an expensive option?
I have posted for a while now that what they need is a bona fide top six winger but I have stressed that there is no urgency. Thomson, Sanderson and JBD need a year to develop and until they do you're not winning anything. They probably will make a ton of mistakes but live with it.
Keep your powder dry and wait for your top six winger deal to come along. Lots of teams with cap issues that are not going away. Teams underperforming that want to shake things up a bit.
This team will be a serious contender two years down the road. Don't screw it up because you want a team that will perennially challenge for a wild card spot NOW. |

Are you saying in terms of value or likelihood of the deal making sense? Because I was only referring to value OBVIOUSLY. That's what this site is for - 99.99% of hypotheticals |

Too many times either the GM or the head coach in these instances are trying to save their jobs when they have missed the playoffs for years, like Ottawa has in this situation. Just look at the Canucks and Habs from the last 2 years with GM's and coaches trying to save their jobs, they can royally screw things up. I hope for Sens fans sakes that doesn't happen.

I like your thinking but not only have I not seen teams trading back for multiple players in a trade - I think GM's egos wouldn't let this happen
I DID think of similar names though (goalies) |

I completely forgot Ceci was a former Sen and out in Edmonton. Incredible to think, that Nick Paul too, both former Sens had a huge part in the outcome of both games.

Let's see if Gudbranson scores the winner for Calgary tonight and have another former Sen come up big in Game 7. |
