Another Sabres offseason starting 6 weeks too early, again. Draft lottery is tomorrow, would be a ton of fun to move to 1 or 2. We can shift into prospect mode and the combine is a few weeks away. Bills rookie minicamp is this Friday.
Fortunately for our team and unfortunately for this board, there aren't any big trade targets on this team to discuss. But things are gonna get slow and sloppy till draft time ramps up. I think Adams was on GR at 8, gonna listen to that now. - TheSabresTaco
I'd rather reed pages of bee dee and fitz over the doomsday fire the gm "croud".
Gonna be a lot of "do something darcy", when we finally had a team to generally root for .....

I'm not surprised, but it's bonkers to me that Barry Trotz was fired. He's never been fired before, and the Islanders were a powerhouse defensive team until this year. Things went oddly wrong with that team. They had the same roster. I'd be willing to bet if they don't hire a retread, they'll be better next season. |

already is. and should be.
This year's goals were met. A foundation was laid. A culture was created and fostered. Individual development for all developing players. A resurgence for Skinner. Olofsson growing into a more efficient EV player. Granato proving he's the right coach for this group of guys. Sabres management actually connecting with fans instead of saying they want to. Nailing their celebrations. It's been a good year for hitting goals. All players Want To Be Here™
Broads made a joke about expectations not being met since 14-15. He's right. I'm just glad it's vastly different, positive, circumstances this time around.
Adams has and will make clear that, at least in the offseason, this crew needs to go onward and upward, and has talked numerous times about filling the goalie and defensive holes. There will be acquisitions, not trades for picks. IE Olofsson for a late 1st. |

Where does trotz land?
Bet he's hired before the end of the playoffs.
Proven winner, maybe a good fit for Vegas f eichels |

yes, because they were the exact same team a year prior. Age makes a difference I guess, but they really Eric Stalled out this year. |

I'm guessing he sits the year out and lets the right opportunity come to him. Maybe he gets hired in-season by someone.

The night is but a fetus, but we'll see what vacancies open up. I can see him going to Detroit.

Over 30 club - Nelson, Lee, Martin, Czizkas, Bailey, Clutterbuck, Parise. Pageau and Czarnik are 29.
The team is going down if they can't get younger in a hurry |

Titans at Bills, Monday Night, Week 2, September 19th.
EDIT: It's a double header with Vikings at Eagles at 8:30 on ABC. I'm guessing that means the Bills game gets a "backup" broadcasting crew and not the main one with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. - buffalofan19
Thats what i was thinking too. Also, apparently the press release for Eagles noted it was their home opener, but the Bills press release didn't note that. Would lead you to think that week 1 will be at home too so season kickoff not the Bills @ Rams. That is all speculation though. It could be that Bills just didn't add home opener in their release. |

Fellow Optimistic Sabres fan.
I just can't see any reason to force rebuild #4.
Yeah add a gritty defenseman and a durable goalie.
Maybe trade olofsson, if the contract is going to be difficult to negotiate.
Sounded like olofsson already has some experience with sitting and waiting for a contract. He didnt seem worried.
And sure I'm a big goaloffson fan, but someone bigger and tougher may serve the team better at times.
Really wonder how keeping the swedes together for dahlins sake really plays out.
Gotta think there's some convincing to do, for a long term deal?
Keeping his friends here should help IMO |

I'm thinking some playoff teams or near playoff teams would be very enticing.

I read/heard somewhere a few weeks back that since they started playing the opener on Thursday Night, they've done AFC vs. NFC only once. The games are usually intra-conference and non-division. The matchup is intriguing, but there actually isn't much precedent for it. |

Maybe keep the political views clear of this place...
Detroit would be an interesting landing spot.
Just my guess, but a veteran team seems like the perfect spot to add Trotz's defensive sceme.

Nah man I want all three 1sts traded or KA fired.
That’s exactly what I’ve said.
Or it’s just some bitter poster exaggerations of my comments because they just want to troll because they were striking out on their takes all season.
Dahlin, Risto, Skinner, 30 game goallesson

I kinda read it that way to 3ERIsh.
Didnt specify "home opener ".
Of course we'll finish with 4 home games in December/January

I don't know the guy but the way Dahlin presents himself, I think he's enough of a professional to understand the business and not get angry/upset at the team for trading countrymen away for the assumed betterment of the team. At least I'd hope so. Olofsson when healthy serves a quality purpose for this team, so if we could swap him for something different and more helpful, I'd definitely listen.
I'm also not worried about a contract extension for him either. Bet that baby wraps up two days before arb. |

It would be hard to say "no" if he came knocking. That said, he's the type of coach you want when you feel you have your team mostly in place. The Sabres aren't there yet. Maybe if Granato turns into the "only can take them so far" kind of coach, it's a conversation worth having. We're still miles from finding that out, though.
