He definitely is not. - Wetbandit1
Not sure which you were referring to - Sam having below-average skating or Tuch not being a top-line player.
Either way... I think it is all very subjective. As TMGM said, you won't notice Rhino for the whole game but then at the end of the game you look at the scoresheet and he has 2 points.

That was intentional. The answer is both.
Tuch's best season was 18-19 where he scored 52 points good for 4th best on Vegas, oh, and Cody Eakin also scored 22 goals and 41 points. So that should tell you everything you need to know.
Look, I like Tuch. I think he's a good player and brings great energy and I'm glad he's on the team, but none of that means he's worth a first round pick though. I'd go a 2nd and a B prospect |

I think the fact that Reinhart could arb his way to UFA status 100% played into the return we got for him. Teams were wary of what his arb reward would be, and he had all the negotiating power.
Heck even the three year deal Florida gave them is a huge win for him, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him dealt again or walk as a UFA in two years time.
Reinhart proved he’s a top line talent.
Tuch is a 2RW and there is nothing wrong with that, Krebs has top 6 potential but is extremely raw.
Happy Lotto Day, may the odds be in our favour.

Source? Putting up a ppg playing on the second and third line of an offensive juggernaut does not make one a first line talent. On a very good team (like Florida) Sam is a 2W. When you watch Barkov and Huberdau go up and down the ice you can see what real top line forwards look like.

He was top 30 in scoring while playing away from Barkov and Huberdeau most of the season.
He was absolutely a top level forward this season
It’s obvious you just aren’t a fan because all of the metrics and numbers say otherwise |

A for Risto, C- for Eichel, F for Sam.
0 for 1 year deals on Sam + Ullmark.
And why the hate for McCabe? How can you not like him? - Lunaion
C- for eichel 😀
Easily a solid B
Really, dude had a broken back and wanted out of buffalo. The return was not below average a "C".
F for sam is also ridiculous.
He took the best offer available.
Not an " F"
McCabe was decent , but a loser like the rest of the former "core" |

Correct. If Sam was a bona-fide, top line, put him out there when you need a goal type player, it would have shown here in the six years he was here.
Great player for a hella deep team now. |

No, quite the opposite. When I watch him play I don't see him controlling any play. He isn't dynamic. The numbers will tell me that he is a better player than my eyes tell me. His game these days is cleaning up messes in front of the net, and he is very good at it.
And yes, you proved my point - he was top 30 in scoring while away from the other team's top defensive units (and getting nice PP time). I'd take him as a second line winger all day long - lets not pretend he is more than that. |

Quality of teammates has proven to be more beneficial to production than quality of competition |

Well he’s proven more than that so idk what to tell you
85 point second liners don’t exist in today’s NHL
I’m just wondering why Alex Tuch didn’t blow up once he was moved down a line facing all that inferior competition then? |

You mean like down one late in a playoff game with the goalie pulled? That time?
Who scored the GTG last night? I forget. |

How can anyone say he lost the Eichel trade... either we won or there is no winner as of yet.
We definitely won up until now. We'll see how the future plays out. - DirtyDan
Nope lunaion said we lost.
Its final👀 |

The team with the deepest forward group in hockey had just a meh second liner out there to try and tie the game last night |

Youd take the 55 point winger over the 70 point winger who can easily play center and has been a better play driver? Ok - sbroads24

That was essentially a power play and - as I said before - Sam is good at standing in front of the net. The guy has incredible hands.
That said, if the rest of the league viewed him as a top-line player (or even a real center) there would have been teams lining up to get him. Again, he could play on my second line any day.

He is way overly enamored with skating.
I wish Tuch was a 70+ point player who was limited by his skating... |

They came out of the Eichel trade without a premium asset. They did OK, nothing more.
KA put KA in a tough position where he had to move Sam for weak value. Combined, an F is too kind.

He’s been scoring at a top line producer for what, 6 years now? What more would show he’s a top line player. Some of you need to realize that “top line players” would be the top 64 wings in the game (or top 96 forwards since he can do both). He’s very easily and has been a top line player for a while. Where you put him on that list can be debated, but you don’t pace 30 goals in Buffalo in 20-21 then put up 33 and 82 points regardless of what team you are on. He’s had the 18th most goals in the last two years in the entire league. Not a top line player tho. |

Amazing how someone can have a star level season, score 30 goals, be in the top35 in both points and goals, yet not be considered a top line talent. |
