This is crazy news. I just don't understand the logic. - bigrod79
It's a head scratcher for sure. I have no problem with it though. |

I'm frustrated because it's fueled by a lack of VISION!! 100+ turnovers in 3 games??!?!?!?!?! Absolutely unacceptable. If these guys can take care of the damn puck, this series is ours!! - Tonybere
Yeah. It's so frustrating to watch them play right now. I am not looking forward to the game tonight because it is do or die. They can't lose this game. |

It looked like reverting back to the irresponsible puck play we have seen all season when things get tight. They played their ass off in the 2nd and tied it, then when it got tight and went down a goal, all you saw was 1 on 4s and cross ice dump plays that lead to ZERO offensive pressure.
I attribute some of that to lack of maturity on the team as a whole in the playoffs.
On a side note: Bruan and Nemeth were awful coverage. |

Young team with growing pains, first time back in the playoffs in 4 years for all of these guys. A bit on the nervous side and gripping the sticks too hard. |

it's been like that most of the year, probably up until the trade deadline. we either played a period that made everyone go "that was the best period they've played so far this year" or we got outshot, outworked, and outchanced usually being bailed out by shesty to keep our record nice and shiny. with the ratio of great periods to poor periods being roughy 1/3 |

#Isles News: New York Islanders President and General Manager Lou Lamoriello announced today that Barry Trotz has been relieved of his duties as Head Coach. - jimbro83
Wow, they wont find a head coach better than him.
If the Leafs or Panthers lose in the first round this is their chance to get one of the best coaches in the league. |

You're absolutely right, and I know it. Just drives you nuts when you see it after seeing that they can play so much better!
I'm here for all of it, though!! Hope they can figure it out and take their next big step!

I thought about this for myself going into these Playoffs....that the reality of a Cup run in a growing playoff experience year may be a little much. So I tried hard to temper my expectations. Its very hard to do when you know how well they can play, just like you said.
It is still maddening when they turn the puck over this much. |

I know making the playoffs is an accomplishment but if they can pull off this series it would be a huge step and may get them playing more the way they need to going forward. |

I watched Saturday's game a couple hours late since my wife made a 6:45 dinner reso for my birthday. I had told my buddies this so they wouldn't send texts relating to the game. But, I got one from my Pens fan nephew... from his seat at the PPG Paints arena!!! Little bastard. |

Nah, I was all over the Trotz campaign when he became available prior to signing with the Isles. I wanted the Rangers to fire Quinn so bad so we could get him. However, its hard to deny how well this team has played under GG after just 1 year. Considering half the team just started growing facial hair. |

I guess you're right. Plus it would be sloppy seconds with the Islanders. |

Was going into last year of deal. May have wanted too much in an extension and Isles didn't want a lame duck coach. Also, possibly a disconnect on philosophy, as the D was fine but offense was subpar. Who knows, but big loss for Isles. Could he end up in Winnipeg? |

Interesting I feel like the roster is set up to play his exact style of hockey. Maybe since its the last year of his deal just wanted a fresh cut and start |

I have a standard belief that not one person ever voluntarily chooses to live in Winnipeg if they have a choice

He's from Dauphin, MB so he would effectively be going home |
