Just a quick note to thank you for your writing. It’s been great to have you on the Jets “file”.

As a draft geek I am looking forward to your upcoming articles

The results are in!

The Winnipeg Jets will select 14th in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

Over the next week or two, I will have an in-depth look at who may be available for the Jets at 14. It will be a mock draft style on an article, with an in-depth look at each player, and then a follow-up article on the players within reason to look at for Winnipeg. Look out for the potential of a collab on this one, though nothing has been set in stone for that yet.

If a team like Minnesota can get Krill Kaprisov on the 135th pick then anything can happen.

Scheifele could work amazing under Trotz. He wouldn't be scared to bench him if needed, but also wouldn't play him against the toughest matchups defensively. Scheifele needs a coach that will use him the right way. Scheifele has defensive abilities, but really lacks the motivation, and when he is put in a position to fail, while also succeed offensively, he will get frustrated

I am all for getting Trotz of he is willing to come to the Peg. Chevy has to do something substantial when it comes to the coaching as its priority #1 right now.

As for #55. An interesting case under Trotz. It will mean less ice time and more defensive responsibilities. This for a guy who needs production as his UFA status starts to approach. So I agree that we could really learn a lot about Schief's maturity level under Trotz. He either adopts or gets to the point where he demands a trade.

As for more boring hockey. Good defence does create offensive opportunities. Its all about the proper transition game. Its also not boring hockey if the Jets are winning a lot of game. Fans like winning !

Right, I don't thinkg the boring style is all that boring at all, but it is the boring style. Especially with so much firepower, it makes for accountable, safe, and winning games

So called boring hockey is also much better entertainment than frustrating hockey.

Jacob, think a player like Jiri Kulich might be there at 14th pick?

I wouldn't dare spoil the Mock Draft haha. I will say, he is still on my list avaialable for the Jets to take. Who else is there? Who do they take? You will have to wait and see

Fair enough. He is still on my list right now - high on list. Lambert, who appears to have good credentials, has dropped seemingly. H-m-m-m?

The way the Rangers are playing it looks like our conditional 2nd rd pick we acquired in this year's draft from them, shall remaim a 2nd rd'er.

Lambert has definitely dropped, but not too low IMO. He dropped from last year, where he was challenging Wright for 1st, and has been high on the radar for a few years now. I don't see a world where he falls out of the top 20, personally

to me you get in trouble when you draft based on need. I am leaning towards Matychuck. I know, I know, another small left shot D but!!!! he plays the right side and has a great edge to his game, takes no crap!! and i love he is MB boy

Yes, Matychuck or possibly Geekie if by some miracle he becomes available at 14th. Maybe Chevy finds a way to trade up a bit if Geekie is available after 10th. We need his grit.

I'd be happy with either, I don't think this is the draft to trade up in though, not worth the price. Hoping Chevy has learned from his past mistakes like trading up to get Stanley

I do not think that drafting Stanley was a mistake. I was thinking earlier today, how much he will improve with a coach like Trotz coaching him.

Question for mailbag,

I’m very interested in Rikard Gronborg for coach.
Is their a way to see what coaches have the best winning percentage / success who have never coached in NHL. If you could look at College, AHL, Europe, and Canadian Junior. Are there others flying under the radar? Mike Velucci maybe?

but he shouldn't see the ice ahead of about 8 other D already on the team or in the system who would also improve under Trotz

Geekie was rated #31 by TSN's Craig Button (Matt Savoie #17) ion his final rankings, so may not have to trade up ti get him.

But I realize like they say "different strokes for different folks." Other scouts may have Geekie rated higher. I know he was higher earlier this season. Will be interesting to see other projected lists.

Stanley has already proven he can play in the NHL. The GM and 2 former coaches have held Stanley in high regard. Stanley is clearly in the top 6 of Jets defensemen.

wait, the GM and 2 former coaches who you rip on a daily basis are now being used in support of your pro Stanley argument? that's rich.

Stanley is not an NHL D, sorry to break it to you.

Samberg over Stanley without question.

If jets want to sell some season tickets, they need to hire a "name" coach.

I am not their biggest fan and that is for sure. But the fact remains that an NHL GM and 2 NHL former head coaches assessed Stanley as being in the top 6.

Stanley is a plus player on an NHL roster. He is an NHL player.

He definitely was struggling with some injury/confidence issues for sure. Next year will be his year!

Fans on here were saying the same about Kulikov as well. Look at how well he has done!
