So I heard about the Spezza speech that turned the game around yesterday.

It reminded me of the speech Staal, Perry and Weber gave when the Habs were down 1-3 last year.

In Staal and Weber's case, it was their last chance to win it all, it may very well be Spezza's.

I'm sure that gave the Leafs players a big boost coming into the 2nd period.

I'll never understand where this false narrative about the Leafs getting beneficial calls and treatment from the officials/League comes from. It seems pretty widespread but the facts continually show that it's not true at all. In fact it probably leans the other way quite a bit.

For the most part I'd imagine it's jealousy. The Leafs dominate the headlines, they have the biggest fan base, even when they are bad or irrelevant they generate more attention than most teams could dream of. I can see why other fan bases would find that annoying and develop a hatred for them. It's an inferiority/little man complex
