If PLD is a star, is Tage a star?

Tage just had a season that PLD has never had in terms of goal scoring or points produced.

For context, PLD's qualifying offer this offseason is $6.65M.

Why would Tage sign an extension for less than that when he just had a better season then PLD ever had?

I still think Mittelstadt has the superior offensive potential. His hands and vision - as a center - are superior to Cozens imo.

This team is in no hurry to have to rush a prospect like mitts out of town.

Cozens size and defensive awareness make him a tab more valuable, but mitts has mitts ☝️

How would we be talking about Cozens today if he had a solid NHL winger for 82 games and got PP1 time for a full season ?

Mitts is a good middle 6 forward, Cozens will be a legit top 6 forward

All I'm saying is that Mitts has the offensive tools (minus speed) that could still come together for him in a big way. I'd be hesitant to sell on Mitts right now. Mitts is flashy, but his play away from Asplund we got slaughtered when he was on the ice and his offence didn’t make up for it like Tage’s did.

That to me says he’s a solid 3C.

Cozens can be a solid 2C as early as next season if the points match his impacts.

Like you said, his transition game which is the result of his speed, is the best part of Cozens' game so far. If he can figure out the playmaking and finishing then we should see the numbers line up. For my money, I still think Mittelstadt has more in the way of god-given offensive talent (minus speed)

By the end of the 23-24 season, or even by the end of next season, you're trying to learn if he's a long term piece to the puzzle?

It never ceases to amaze me that - despite all of the prospects that so many have written off in this forum - people are still ready to write off prospects. Mitts was hurt much of the year and looked like himself once he mended a bit.
