It might be more than 2 or 3. It still doesn't get them anywhere near a playoff spot all else equal. Covid and injuries play a part in that, but just about every team had issues with that this year. Teams with depth survived. The Sabres didn't have it.

I did. My point is, if the best goaltender in hockey (this year) couldn't prevent that from being a problem, there's not a goaltender in the league that could solve the Sabres' issues this year.

Goaltending is in desperate need of an upgrade. There's no doubt about it. They still need some significant improvements up front, both internally and externally to be a playoff contender.

Kane is leaving Chicago, either this year or next year. However, he has a full NTC, which means he has a huge say in where he goes if Chicago wants to trade him this summer. He could gut it out one more year and then just go to Free Agency or even allow a trade at the deadline.

If you can get Kane reasonably, you do it end of story.

This team goes from 21st in scoring to damn near top 10 with him.
