Lou is on the clock from this point forward. IMO the Islanders should not move this pick and start re-stocking the farm. Take the best player available and move on.

Depends who's available. As much as I'd love a guy like Kane, I'm not sure forking over a ton of assets for a guy in the last year of his deal is the intelligent move.
I don't like who they have us taking either but gives you an idea who is around at 13. Some really good US kids in this draft. I would love one of them to be isles pick. I would love McGroarty, Gauthier, Nazar or even Casey.

Geekie is good but he can't skate and that's going to get exposed at higher levels.
First Athletic mock has us taking Danila Yurov at 13, which is something I can get on board with.
I am a bit curious to see what happens with Russian players (meaning ones playing in Russia) in the draft though given everything going on in Ukraine. I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of them drop because teams are going to be unsure about getting them over to North America.
At the end of the day, the Isles have one of the worst prospect pools in the league and they should just take whoever the best player available is, regardless of position. Whoever it is will take years to arrive in the NHL since they're blocked by so many vets anyway.

Wait you want a skilled Russian?
I wouldn't doubt if the pick is used to trade for a top 4 Dmen.

I mean I think everyone would like a skilled player, generally speaking.
I don't doubt that they're probably more likely to trade it than use it, but until then it's about the only worthwhile thing anyone here will have to discuss until free agency

Re-stocking and building should be the route but Lou is always trying to be the now guy. He wants to be in lime light especially with veterans.

So people come on here to discuss hockey related things?
Ranger fans seem to be going with the unfortunate accident narrative - Cptmjl
Of course they are. What else do they have? Funny how it's "unfortunate" when it's an opponents player. If it where one of theirs they'd be screaming bloody murder and saying he was a dirty player.

If this team was one player away from making it over the hump I would do it. However, if Lou make a move he needs to stay under 30 to give this team so longevity.

Kane would be a huge addition, he hasn't slowed down a bit. He quietly posted 92pts in 78 games this year. But I am mostly afraid of what they'd pay for him without any sort of extension in place. Or that Lou would get him and extend him 8 years until he's 41
