Slot Keith on the 3rd pairing with 16:00-17:00 a night and he's useful otherwise he's a liability. No different than any other player he needs to be slotted correctly if you have that luxury in a hard cap world.
- Mr Ricochet

Nurse has been suspended for game 6, so Keith and the other Oilers D will be seeing more TOI.

Congrats on your grandson!! ...... Been my experience that the happiest I see little ones is at minor league sports. Cheap, really family friendly with the experience geared for kids.
- Mr Ricochet

Thanks for the advice Rico. We are in a college hotbed. So collegiate sports may have to do. His momma is a sports fan (and Hawks fan) too. So I am pretty sure he will ok.

Bowman’s biggest accomplishments were: Not trying to put his stamp on the team when he took over by making some trade just for the sake of it. Sounds minor but many GMs feel the need to make a statement. He had the foresight and humility to do minor tweaking. He did a great job of maneuvering around the salary cap after the first cup. He was able to get good veterans (Handzus; Oduya and RozsIval) to fill important spots on the rosters, despite many Hawk fans mocking the players. He saw an opportunity when Kane was injured to circumvent the cap to bring in Vermette. A loophole that Tampa has also used.

I’d give him a pass on the TT, Bickell trade. As well as the Panarin trade, there was no way he would have been able to re-sign him. A few other deals were intended to prolong the championship window and or were salary cap issues.

He can’t be forgiven for the Danault trade. The Seabrook re-signing was horrendous. And he and his scouting staff didn’t draft well at all.

As for suggesting the Hawks blow it up after the 2016 season, where it’s likely they would have received a King’s ransom for Toews, Kane, Keith and Seabrook he would have had the fans down his throat even worse plus it would have been hard (impossible?) to move that many NMC. I expect even today not many GMs would have the stones to move out their star/franchise players in their late 20s even if becomes apparent they have no where to go but down.

Well said and I agree with all of this....would have been very interesting if they wouldn't have resigned Seabrook and kept Panarin who things would have worked out.

Think we can all agree Panarin is an elite talent. NO idea if he wanted to sign here long term even IF Hawks had room and wanted him...large population of Russians in the bronx in NY.

Just hope KD sticks to what he thinks is the best road to getting back on top. Fans and/or media be damned. Hoping for a summer of smart, ballsy trades as bringing back this same group to me serves zero purpose.

Given that they split hockey related revenue, the owners and players are closer to partners than adversaries; they both have an equal interest in the growth of the game.

I agree with you and Dots, but if you get a chance google the athletic article. Think you will enjoy it and really hit home. Even thinking what we know based on what we have read or been told through media...hearing it first hand from a assistant GM detailing it all....is fascinating.

Chris Pronger on twitter has been very vocal about outlining a lot of hidden costs athletes incur with rent, personal trainers/chefs, etc....also very cool to get that inside from a players perspective.

I just feel when I see/hear/read Wirtz whining about losing money....my head wants to explode. Through all those cup runs he has coffers of $$$ and I can't sit here and think his 2nd in command who milked EVERY single $$ he could out of the Cubs when they were losing, wasn't going to do the same for Wirtz in the hey day. That's just my rub there.....never bought back then, and sure as hell don't buy it now when I see those claims.

Its an interesting read, Pronger on Twitter, some hockey players are ignorant enough to give power of attorney to others. Poor foolish kids

Watching Stars and Calgary game can hardly here what the female broadcaster is saying! Get the women out of the play by play booth ! Pathetic! Sounds like a teenager trying to put makeup on and broadcast the game at the same time! Had to mute it.

I know you can't put condition on a trade if a player signs an extension with the new team after a trade. So let's assume Kane waives and he signs a 3 year extension with the Hawks before a trade. Then Buffalo has him for 4 years. The ask would be greater. I'll start with 3 1sts, Peterka and another prospect.

Let’s assume u come back to reality at some point
Then we can pick this convo back up

You can keep him, is that ask just for Buffalo or for any team. How much is the contract. Fantastic hockey player, but I can't see anyone giving that much up.

Brandon Hagel just got two young mediocre players and two 1sts.

Don't think he'll waive for Buffalo anyway.

He's younger, having a decent year, signed for 2 more years at 1.5m and Tampa still has 1 more year of RFA status with him until he's Arb. Eligible, they paid for 4yrs of a cheap controllable player. Like I said fantastic player, but that would be ridiculous for Buffalo to pay that at this time.

Buffalo isn't close enough yet, so it wouldn't make sense anyway. Power does look like the real deal and from a glimpse of the few times we played them, I see bright things down the road. So, it would be a waste of assets to get him next year. If they make a good run next year, now that's another story in 2023 when Kane is a UFA.

Contenders will vie for him at the deadline or maybe even the draft. He'll be the piece the puts them over the top especially with the Hawks retaining half and maybe taking back a contract or two. That's if he agrees to waive.

I don't see that return for Kane, either. But, I wouldn't have guessed Hagel would get what he got.

I agree with Hagel, but Tampa is in a different position than a lot of teams. They bought a cheap productive player that will help them keep a few other players because of his cheap contract. With the cap not going up for a few years, ELC'S and 1st contracts are gonna become more important.

Would it really be beneficial for the team to trade 2023 1st round picks for picks this year? My thinking is try to keep as many next draft, and if the lottery balls do not fall in place for #1 in 2023, you can have picks to package to try to get Fantilli. But maybe that is why I am not a G.M.

If Kaner want to leave as an usa, they will know in advance and send him to a contender.

There is no way he goes home to Buffalo to play with a non-contender.

They have 6 players that are guys they will pay to stick around but they are not a contender.

We all know who the contenders are this year and who are the ones who could upset a teamer two....he is signing where he knows he fits and wins, like Rangers or who ever gets better.

It's time someone called out all the Bowman hate posters and no, this is not a Bowmsn apologetic reaction.

While there were mistakes, Bowman isn't or hasn't been viewed properly for his accomplishments. You spelled it out pretty well, Paul

Sure it was time to move on from Bowman. I regret that Boqvist has been too brittle and we haven't seen his great potential. While Bowman did identify the core and kept them together for three championships, he did overpay them and that came back to bite him. He has actually more good looking prospects in the barn now than ever before. All these dmen might become valuable trade chips down the road for Davidson.
