5 years, isn't what I would call, for years, and as an assistant coach. |

Again…how much coaching experience did Marty St Louis have when he became head coach of the Habs? |
|

Yeah those few years of peewee coaching really made the difference for Marty St Louis… - TurdFergeson
You comparing a coach who played almost 20 years in the NHL, to a person that has coached a few seasons in a pretty low level of hockey is almost laughable. |

She was an assistant on the mens national team and head coach at the university level.

You’re falling into that old trap. Saying any long term nhler should be in line for the job ahead of her. Well it’s time people like you stop the old man thinking.
I’m not saying the Canucks should hire her or any other female but it’s time to start looking at the actual skill set and realize women can do it just as well. |

Let’s put that into perspective. If a male coach with the same resume was considered for even an assistant role at the NHL level, there’d be a riot in Vancouver. |

Actually I have been in favour of hiring women and minorities for decades, so I am not falling into any trap.
I just don't believe that a person who has very little experience, at a high level, whether it is playing or coaching, should be gifted a job based on their sex or ethnicity.
Now, if the article stated something along the lines of her being the 1st female professional coach, fine by me.
You brought up old white guys, becoming coaches, not sure many became coaches at 34 years of age, like she is. |

I don’t know her coaching at all and not saying anyone should put her directly into that role. But others seem to skip a lot of steps too. I’d have no problem if a team interviewed her or another woman and brought them in as an assistant. But we all know head coaches tend to bring in the guys they’ve worked with over the years. So who knows when it will happen?

Reading a few links doesn’t mean you know anything about her as a coach. Her style, strategy, etc. - TurdFergeson
You should be able to learn all those things in a good interview but we know how that goes on this team. |

I agree, it was just some extra info for you.
Not sure many people know what her strategies are as she has been mostly serving as an assistant coach and the strategies tend to be set by the head coach.
Unfortunately for her, she had to serve as an assistant to Baumgartner at the U-18s, where the team looked terrible, which should come as no surprise to Canucks fans, as we are well aware of how bad a coach Baumgartner is. |

That is their 3rd or 4th blog, on that topic, since he was scratched in game 1 of playoffs.
It is to try rile up the troops. |

Just because numbers are fun;
The Canucks had a winning percentage of 48.8% this season, for a total of 80 points.
The Canucks were gifted 12 Bettman bonus points for losing a game in OT/SO.
Doesn't sound to me like a team that should be given an opportunity to stick together, but I know many of you love mediocrity.
Also, just thought I would throw this out there for some of the guzzlers, especially the ones who have complained regularly, in the past, about other teams getting more loser points, than our beloved Canucks. |
