That is totally post season/playoff related, on a side note, Brad Marchand is also a helluva player but is a huge Richard on the same level as Evander Kane. - Pacificgem
My point was for you to take your McDavid boner over to the Oilers thread. |

Elliotte Friedman just tweeted this out, apparently he thinks McDavid plays for Vancouver
Ted Lindsay Award finalists for “most outstanding player” in the NHL, as voted by @NHLPA members: Josi (NASH), Matthews (TOR), McDavid (VAN). - LeftCoaster
Yeah, I called it yesterday. Lots of talk behind the scenes about it. Tick tock. |

Sounds to me like just the option but someone else said extension. |

Friedman stated that the Boudreau situation is weird and Bouds has options, maybe Flyers. |

Boudreau said he hasn’t talked to any other teams at all. Expects announcement next week. |

From the Athletic…
————————————————————
Renovating the blue line
Vancouver’s defense corps has been an issue for years now.
The list of amateur defensemen the club has drafted (or signed) and developed into regular NHL players this century is disturbingly short. There’s been six, really: Kevin Bieksa (2002), Alex Edler (2004), Chris Tanev (2010), Ben Hutton (2012), Troy Stecher (2016) and Quinn Hughes (2018).
In other words, over a 22-year period, the organization has acquired and developed enough homegrown defenders to ice an opening night lineup, but not enough to fill out a 23-man roster for an Eastern Conference road trip.
The club understands that their blue line personnel needs to be upgraded – to be deeper, cheaper, faster and especially younger — and accomplishing this is going to be a major priority this offseason. And beyond.
Unfortunately for the Canucks, the sense we get is that the club isn’t particularly enamoured with the options available in unrestricted free agency. |

Thanks, I had heard this a couple of days ago, now the media talking heads are all insinuating that Bouds is miffed and trying to make drama over anything.
Training and med staff (5) have been let go, new Pittsburgh staff on their way to Vancouver. |

I know you’re just being cheeky, at least I think you are, however, for an franchise to be in a particular league for 52 years and never won a championship there are obviously systemic issues within the organization. Primarily poopty ownership.
That being said, it’s not the fault of the current training staff, or the medical staff/doctors, or the scouting stuff etc. etc. it’s a product of many years of failure. Just my personal opinion, but, wiping the slate clean and trying to do things differently should not be construed as a negative thing! |
