Nice to see Raanta as the goaltender helping Carolina past the Bruins. Teravainen, another former Blackhawk, contributing to the scoring in the deciding playoff matinee

Teuvo has become a hell of a player. All because he wanted to golf in the summer

Is Tavares by far the most superfluous $11M player in the history of the league? I know it's an idiotic question because very few have ever had an $11M cap hit, but why is he there? Would they lose much if they had a "regular" $6M center there?

I can't stay long, have to tune into TSN to hear all of the excuses - for the 55th year in a row.

Before I do, I'm toasting Vasilesvskii and Hedman.

Oh just heard the first excuse - Leafs didn't get any bounces tonight,

He was a mistake signing, when the leafs signed him they needed a solid number one defenseman more than an older centre man. And today they still need that defenseman.

Vasilesvskii and Hedman were outstanding. All the Tampa players have defined roles and play them well. Tampa dictated the leafs bounces, the leafs just aren’t good enough. Still waiting for matthews, Marner and Tavares to prove they are more than regular season players.

It was Mike Babcock who pressed so hard for them to sign Tavares.

And then to justify the $11M contract, somebody concocted a story for the press that San Jose was offering $13M/year but the Toronto boy wanted to come home and lead the Leafs to glory.

The Toronto boy did come home tonight - Nick Paul with a pair to sink his hometown heroes.

Blackhawk fans are upset at Toews’ decline. Imagine being a leaf fan watching Tavares decline without winning anything.

The season is over for

Maple Leafs
Blackhawks

Soon Rockford Icehogs

Half way through period three they are outshot 37-12. Only 3-1 deficit tonight; they will be down 2-0 to a superior Wolves team. BTW So far in the playoffs the Icehogs have not inserted any of the junior players like K Dach.

I thought Tavares play was actually quite good over the whole series and he won virtually every faceoff he took.

But with an $11M salary and 2 other forwards making the same amount, fans are entitled to expect more than a playoff 'appearance'.

TNT just provided a stat that out of the last 4 game 7s that Mathews and Marner have been in, they’ve combined for just 4 assists.

So… there are a lot of candidates for scrutiny on that roster when it comes to playoff performance.

Can’t argue with that but I more meant he’s declined in that he’s not an $11M player by any stretch.

new jersey not carolina
- Scott1977

Understood....I just meant that if they're even considering trading Debrincat, the return better be massive and Carolina has a younger stud in Svechnikov that MIGHT be a starting point.
I'm not sure on a New Jersey possibility.

Another GREAT choke job by the Leaf's too. How long are they going to stick with that bunch ????

No, that game came down to the fact Tampa has the best goalie in the league. The Toronto power play in the third period, the only reason Toronto didn’t score was because of Vasilevsky.
