Admittedly we got a better tee time by not putting it off. :D Toronto ought to change its team name to reflect its fans: It could be the Toronto Karma hates Hubris's ... ok not that catchy -but true...

No, that game came down to the fact Tampa has the best goalie in the league. The Toronto power play in the third period, the only reason Toronto didn’t score was because of Vasilevsky. - LAHawk
I saw the box score and noticed of all people Paul scored both goals. But if you watched and say so i have to take your word for it |

They should have traded Belfour before Hasek ..
- HawkintheD
That's hindsight talking - at the time Belfour was proven in the NHL, and Hasek was proven in international hockey. They went with the proven NHL goalie is all. |

Been a horribly bad year for the HAWKS, but watching the Leafs choking in the 1st round makes me smile . |

We should sign that kid. Paul dose it all ,just ask that over paid bunch of Leafs . |

I always find it fascinating, Domi who didn't do poop in that series gets 3 points against Boston, Paul gets the only 2 goals for the Bolts, playoff hockey |

TNT just provided a stat that out of the last 4 game 7s that Mathews and Marner have been in, they’ve combined for just 4 assists.
So… there are a lot of candidates for scrutiny on that roster when it comes to playoff performance. - Chief4Feathers
I'm sure. They disappointed massively. I just don't get why they signed him. He's redundant. They have plenty of goal scoring. They have not nearly enough defense (F's or D's). Kampf can't do it all by himself. |

Who's redundant? If you are talking Tavares than i agree but if you are referring to Matthews and Marner than i disagree.
And please be patient with me i had some of the Clark and Sheffield merlot tonight, i don't know if it's body chemistry or what but damn I'm feeling good |

It sure was beautiful night out tonight
Feel bad for Durzi giving up after the penalty was called |

Good job by the Oil willing to go to the tough areas of the ice the last 3 games, all of them |

I do wonder if #2 told them after game 4 look if you really want to win, everyone hss to do these things to get to the next round |

The season is over for
Maple Leafs
Blackhawks
Soon Rockford Icehogs
Half way through period three they are outshot 37-12. Only 3-1 deficit tonight; they will be down 2-0 to a superior Wolves team. BTW So far in the playoffs the Icehogs have not inserted any of the junior players like K Dach. - jhawk59
One observation on Hogs/Wolves series. Do you notice how many Wolves are over 25yo. Look at their roster. That speaks to quality of players Carolina has at the NHL level, patience with prospects, drafting, cap management and feathering in good experienced players on their AHL team.
Canes top forward $8.5 mil, top dman $5.5 mil, top goalie $4.5 mil. No long term contracts given to players over the age of 25. Maybe not a bunch of superstars. This allows for more depth. No recent Cups, but a serious contender. Underrated GM and Coach. |

I am talking about Tavares. He is the equivalent to having a gold plated Rolls Royce when you already have two normal ones. |

Of course it's hindsight talking but at the time Hasek also had a year under his belt as a Hawk so it's not like he was an unknown entity on NHL ice. |

That also helps explain their salary cap situation. If they win one let's see how well they can manage their Cap.
Also to the other poster suggesting if the Canes were looking into a trade for DeBrincat the Hawks should ask for a deal of Svechnikov plus. Pretty sure CAR hangs up. |

Tavares was the dumbest signing ever, and he has an unmovable contract. Although I’m not okay with Seth Jones contract, I’d much rather have him and that contract than Tavares’s contract. Toronto doesn’t have any high end two way defensemen, not one, and out of all of their issues, that may be their biggest challenge. |

I'm a Leaf hater as you know, so it was a very nice night for me. But in response to your last sentence - Morgan Rielly was excellent in that series. And the Leafs did quite a good job revamping their D group so they could compete with Tampa in that series.
What the Loafs don't have is a Viktor Hedman who is easily the most dominant Dman in the NHL (and I include Roman Josi in that assessment). Combining him with that goaltender makes the Lightning so tough to beat.
And the Leafs aren't the only team that made a mistake involving Tavares - The Islanders chose Tavares first in the draft, leaving Hedman for the Lightning and the critical ingredient for a championship calibre team.

Tavares at half the salary is a good second centreman. But he hurts leafs cap wise with that $11M cap hit. Mot that it hurts my feelings. |

The advantage of trading jones for tavares is glorious cap space in 3 years.

I would dump the Swedish Meatball's $7M ticket before I moved Tavares. |

Trouble is Jones would probably waive his NTC to go to Toronto, zero chance Tavares would waive his to go to a rebuilding club. |

Of the two I would too but Tavares’ contract is still awful and signing him was a huge mistake. Nylander has Inge Hammerstrom syndrome, he can go into the corner with a dozen eggs in his pocket and emerge with all of them intact. |
