That doesn't matter by the letter of the rule, though. You are responsible for your stick at all times, aside from the amendment about follow through's. Those were both called correctly, IMO. Leafs have no one to blame but themselves. Same as us if we can't pull off a minor miracle here.

Shouldn't you be responsible for your elbows too? Not trolling, just asking an honest question.

I see what you're saying and the black and white answer is obviously yes.
But, consider the many bodychecks that start with a shoulder making contact with someone's chest and then the energy of the hit carries them through to make contact with the head. That is not considered a penalty. I have to assume that was the logic the refs followed in not calling anything here.

I agree with that, much like the leaving your feet after contact stuff, but I feel like the Trouba hit was much different, maybe his stick got caught causing his arm to flair out but it just looked like a player that was trying to deter another player from moving forward at any means necessary. Do I think it was malicious? Nah, accidental? Not exactly.

Don't think this is a case of the elbow coming up after contact.

Which is how league viewed it...not the Pittsburgh fanbase. That I get because if situation was reversed and similar hit on Mika or Panarin or Fox, Rangers faithful would be up in arms as well

Oh for sure. The league is a clown show. The fact that Parros is head of player safety or whatever is comical. There have been plenty of instances of Sid with dirty poop, Geno with dirty poop, you get Letang off his game and he'll make boneheaded decisions. The league doesn't punish these players enough to deter.

Should be like punitive damages in a litigation trial. Punish the dirtbag plays enough that'll keep them from pulling that poop.

You may be right. But, myself I think it was that the elbow came up due to stick placement and then since it was there, Trouba decided not to make an effort to stop it from happening. I say this based on the fact that if you look at the very beginning of the incident, Trouba's actual intent is to stick check him. He wasn't even trying to throw a hit at first.

Well, I guess we can either have a rational discussion, or not. \_0_/
You obviously watch a lot of hockey. You remember a lot of guys make a play to knock the puck off their target's stick as they are lining them up for a big, head-hunting hit? Or run them so blatantly that they initiate a check that was about the 38th hardest hit of the game?
These are the details too many Penguin fans are ignoring. Makes it hard to be congenial.

Haha, I don't think he was head hunting at all. I just don't think he tried to avoid elbowing him. I think they both can be true.

My conversation in this blog today has been nothing but civil but that Jimbro clown came in with some bullpoop. Now you? You tie your clown shoes tight before that post? Got your face paint on and your red nose?

Interesting night coming up in Pittsburgh. Penguins will play the victim card as they did 30 years ago with Mario. It worked splendidly for them then. Rangers will probably have to withstand a furious first ten minutes assuming the Pens will be doubly motivated.

I don't see how Motte isn't in the lineup tonight. Playoffs are why they traded for him.
