Today is FRIDAY the 13th. Not a good omen for the Penguins
- broncohorvath

Yeah, I guess the rangers aren't playing on Friday the 13th either!

Should just remove Boyle from the lineup, put in DOC and drop Carter to the 4th line that way you don't have 2 guys skating in mud.
- j.boyd919

This.

If Sully wanted Boyle to be effective he should have sat him for a bunch of games down the stretch. It looked like he could barely move in the last game.

If you're going to insist on Carter being buried, bury him 8-10 minutes a game instead of 15 minutes a game.

The weird thing is no place that I've read aside from ESPN has actually said he has a concussion. I got this alert on my phone from the athletic that said sources say Crosby has a concussion, but when you open the article it says sources say he's being "evaluated for a concussion."

From the Trib:
With franchise pillar Sidney Crosby sidelined due to a suspected head injury he suffered

Obviously we all know these roundabout ways of saying things means he has one, but ESPN is the only place I've seen actually saying he has one.

Friday night is the 30th anniversary of the night the Penguins eliminated the Rangers in Pittsburgh in Game 6 after the Adam Graves slash knocked Mario Lemieux out of the series. Sidney Crosby was just injured by a dirty play. Game 6 is in Pittsburgh on Friday.

I think I agree with Biz's take on Geno. I don't think he can throw that switch and become Geno Machino anymore. Too many miles.

I'm hope I'm wrong.

It helps that Jake is playing so great but Rusty needs his best game of the series tonight.

Pray that 3-4 can tread water and Sully doesn't (frank) up last change.

Well, I didn't know this, but 30 years ago TODAY, the Pens knocked out the Rangers without Mario after Graves broke Mario's hand the game before.
- Rinosaur
It was actually 3 games after...Graves took him out in game 2. Lost game 3 in OT and then Ronnie Franchise took over and we won the next 11 straight and the Cup. Game 4 is still one of my 5 favorite Pens games ever.

But tonight is still the 30th anniversary of knocking them out, so that's pretty cool.

Probably not, but I've seen old guys find some magic for a game or two. I think Geno can do that. I just want him to focus on the game and not respond when he's inevitably goaded into something. Skate away.

LOL RY is giving Geno excuses about not performing well due to line mates. There is no unlimited cam and when you have 18.2 of the cap in 2 players you're going to be weak elsewhere. Look at EDM or CO. Basically 1 lines teams. At least Makar is cheap for the moment but you can surround both Malkin and Sid w studs.

If Malkin cant step up tonight or tomorrow. The decision is easy. If he isnt willing to take a reduced salary...move on.

Yeah. He has to stay level headed at all costs. Sully was livid when he took that penalty. I'm sure they spoken to him about it. We'll see.

Same goes for a few guys on the Pens. Geno's not our only hot head.

One thing to keep in mind Ryan is that what Sullivan says publicly and what he says privately to the league are two different things. For a variety of reasons coaches usually do not call out the league and its bad decisions/bad officiating/etc. to the media. However, considering how he goes off on refs in many cases it is likely that he did the same, privately, to the league.

I often wonder, if the Pens still had a Matt Cooke-type player on their team and he did that to Fox or Lafraniere and concussed them, would he have been called on the ice? Would he have received supplemental discipline?

Zucker rocking that 34.52% CF playing with Carter and McGinn.

It's a shame Sully won't move Blueger up. Zucker-Blue-McGinn could be a solid line.

I’m angry that the Rangers did this and it was completely unnecessary. I’m also frustrated in the bush league and spineless NHL that fails to protect the players. Lastly I am not upset at Sully. Stay calm and carry on. Because the series is on the line. In the locker room I’m certain the truth was spoken. I am hoping for poetic justice and a Pens victory. The payback to Trouba needs to wait till next year.

However, if opportunity presents itself for a solid hit, do so with intention and take that opportunity to the bank! Light them up!

The thing about Carter is he scores goals, which is an effective way to win hockey games.

Nah. Someone needs to just have a straight up f hockey fight right away with Trouba. That way if the pens go down 1-0 it doesn’t turn into a scrum fest which is where the pens get sucked into penalties.
