Not gonna comment on the actual game because I didn’t watch any of it but I’m glad the Oilers won. Also glad the Leafs lost because I sort of get a kick out their fans misery .
I hope they don’t go much farther than this though because I have some rock shows I want to go to both Downtown and on Whyte in the next month and if last night was any indication it’s gonna get stupid around all the spots. I was on Whyte last night. Total sausage fest of douchebag sports fans aged 18-30 all wearing the same shirt . Unless you’re a moron who likes moronic poop, I suggest you stay away. If this goes deeper, we’ll see violence, destruction of property and probably sexual assault all because a sports team won a game. People truly are stupid, and I could feel it the air last night. |

Cool. How'd vegas do?
Oh right, Eichel broke his thumb sitting too hard with it up his ass, William Karlsson has become Cheechoo 2.0 and forgot how to score. More cap gymnastics than Simone Biles and couldn't even make the dance. - ChonDerry

Just to add, a lot of people want to see the BOA because they want to relive the memories of the 80’s rivalry but guess what? It isn’t the 80’s and neither team is a true favorite to win the Cup. There won’t be the violence like in the good ol’days and it won’t feel special, at least not how would expect it anyway.
I have a feeling the Flames will choke tonight anyway ( bold prediction) and the fans will jizz all over themselves blaming the refs, because it’s Calgary. |

Yaay! I'm an Ottawa fan but I lived in Red Deer for a year in 1986 and used to go watch the Edmonton Calgary games at the Red Deer College student union. Big screen, pitchers of beer and the best hockey you could hope for.
I'm going to love watching the battle of Alberta. I lean towards the Oilers only because McDavid is a truly generational player but I won't mind if Calgary wins. Win win for me.
There are people who say it's not the same because the teams aren't as good as they were then and that's probably true but I don't care. This is going to be good hockey. Couldn't have asked for better. |

It's a great story and should be on every blog, not just here and the Flames, maybe the Sens. Oh my. |

Hmmm, Evander Kane whom so many didn't want on the team and Kris Russell whom so many wanted to leave the team both coming up big in the playoffs. - Oildrum
Kane has been huge for the Oil, but he is playing (and behaving) for his new contract this offseason. If he is good with signing short term, I'm all for trying to fit him in, but I suspect whomever signs him to long term and big dollars will be only a couple years away from great regret.
Russell has played 3 games and did not even average 11 min ice-time. If that is his role, at 1.25 mil per season, 6/7 d-man, I doubt any one is complaining. You pay him 4 mil per again, and try to play him top 4, then....
Ceci was definitely Holland's best acquisition, not considering the Kane situation. But the Keith deal was brutal, and the Foegele extensions looks pretty awful right now too. |

Oil have 7.2 mill in projected cap space. They are hooped. Kane, Pulj, Yamo, a goalie, d upgrades. Lots to be done with limited space. |

He's going to have to get someone to take on Barrie, as well as Kassian or Feogele (or both) to free up some space. Even then (if that miracle were to occur), that likely just takes can of the existing contract housekeeping, and Nurse's huge pay increase. Maybe Keith can be convinced to retire this offseason, lol. We certainly can't keep Keith/Bouchard as a defense pair, not much defense happens when they are on the ice together. |

Hope that happens. With Smith's injury history though, might make for a heavy haul for the kid. |

Don’t need a goalie or defence when you play most of the game in the other teams end. |

The hope is Konovalov can take a few reps by then too. He was slow in progression this year but either he or Rodrigue are supposed to be ready as a 3 after next year at least. If not next year. |

If Smith/Skinner is the duo next season it will not end well. |
