not gonna lie , I expected a bit more from matthews last night ....but tampa did play some ridiculous good shot blocking and positional defence....they know what the (frank) they are doing ....
- CarlitoBrigante

Not sure how Kucherov can stand on the PP where he does and have free shots or free passes to Stammer but we can barely get a Matthews shot on net from the same spot.

I think he can sign mid season next year.
- .HOHO.

You may be right here. CJ touched on it a bit last night. Along the lines of knowing what his plans are while the window is still open.

AM's never getting to the point where the Leafs lose control. Nada chance

They'll trade him if there is no commitment.

I’d agree Matthews wasn’t the “problem” but he also didn’t do what McDavid did which was pretty much single handedly carry his team when it really mattered.

JT's job as the captain, no?

Contracts expire July 1st, can only sign an extension a full year max prior to expiration.

Hard to do more with Killorn hanging off the back of your jersey.

So what’s the ban count in this thread so far???
- TurdFergeson

Not many so far, but the mods left a coil of rope last night. Probably in a few days, some posters will be experiencing some technical difficulties

Even though Tampa didn't score a pp goal, it must've been the best I ever watched - cause it was against an elite pk squad. It's like they manage to move the puck .1 of a second faster than what should be possible.
Insanely impressive imho.

My way too early offseason motives

1.Get rid of Mrazek and get a cheaper option as 1B

2.Keep Mikheyev-Kampf-Engvall together

3.I like Kase...but could probably get a nice pick for his RFA rights. His injury history is too sticky for a cap strapped team like the Leafs

4.Trade Kerfoot and get someone with some jam(seems like JT plays better with those types)

Come back with the same main pieces minus Kerfoot. The only big change I would explore is Muzzin but I am fine if he's back.

- Santo_44

Yup, core is intact, unless there is a Hedman out there for Rielly++.

Kerfoot and Kase could go. I think we need some heavy guys, especially when teams collapse down low and we're stuck doing ring-a-round the rosies looking for options.

Hyman would've fared well in that series, not that we had a chance really to keep him, but we need some size; Nick Paul's sitting pretty right now: that was 230 lbs of man meat nobody had an answer for when he drove the net. Could use some of that in the bottom 6.

Played well enough to win even without a PP but just couldn't get a bounce. That power play was brutal and would be my pick for the biggest reason they lost.

Going forward everyone and their grandmothers know they need a little help on D and in net. Campbell was fine but they will need another guy.

I'm not suggesting blowing up the core by any stretch, but there's room for a very compelling argument that trading Nylander is the right move at this point if the right deal can be found. I'm not sure what the right move is, but there needs to be some on ice change to continue progressing forward, Nylander is significant enough to open room but not significant enough to change the nucleus of the team.

Kucherov is so underrated IMO. When he’s on he can be the biggest game changer in the game. Name barely gets mentioned, TBL had a great year and he was out for 1/2 the season again.

Hey Joel and anyone else who wants to chirp about the moderating here or the fact we aren’t here 24/7.

How about you put aside your anger and remember this is a volunteer, non-paying gig and instead of whining you appreciate the fact we are here as much as we are - the alternative is we just don’t do it at all. Is that preferable?

If you or anyone else has an issue with the amount of time there isn’t a mod here do something productive about it instead of just acting like a spoiled child and whining.

Feel free to request to become a mod and see how much work it is.

This is the crap that honestly just makes me want to say screw it and just stop moderating entirely.
