The flyers are no where close to this level of play. Not even a little bit
- Bob Habib
The most over used statement about hockey in this area. Everyone turns it up at playoff time, when they get in. Example, take those same Flyers in 2010. Played mediocre hockey most of the season and get into the playoffs on the last game, and needing a shoot out goal. For the next month and a half, playing with their hair on fire all the way to the Stanley Cup. |

Do the Caps fire Lavi? Because he should be hired in an instant if he’s available.
Maybe the Caps want Trotz back for one last go? |

Lavi would be my number one choice. Call it a Retread if you want but I believe he never should have been fired to begin with and you can’t argue with his results over the course of his career. |

While I get the sentiment, this is not being inappropriately used under the current circumstances. There is no way the current version of the Comcast Flyers could compete at this level over a 7 games series. The speed, the physicality, the high end talent, the mid to lower lever NHL players stepping up, the goaltending, the coaching: all of it is woefully short right now. |

And that's exactly what scares me. I think CF has done a fine job drafting but his FW signings and trades concern me greatly |

The fact that you truly believe this team has any legitimate shot at anything even close to contending for a cup makes me not able to respond to your comment without being sarcastic.
Of course every team worth a damn amps up their play in the playoffs. That's what any and every good team should do. But seeing at how we can't even compete for a full 60 minute game for more than 3 games out of an 82 game season says all that you need to know.
We suck. We are nowhere close to this level of play and we don't have a pronger , Richards, Carter, or young giroux or any of the other players we had in 2010
No way is this team relevant in any type of post season chatter |

It was a great series. Could have gone either way. The Lightning did a great close out job, befitting of a two-time defending champion. TBH, in Game 1 through 6, I thought Toronto was the better team overall.
The Maple Leafs have had some great players and a few very good teams that were capable of a Cup final/ Cup championship over the last 55 years. It's all about peaking at the right time, the matchups, and a little bit of good luck in terms of staying healthy and picking off a game or two that come down to a bounce of the puck.
That said, I am pleased by the result. Toronto is not just 18 years removed from their last playoff series win, they are now 55 years and counting from their list trip to the Stanley Cup Final (as well as their last Stanley Cup championship). Zero trips to the Cup Final since the NHL expanded from six to 12 teams. There's still an arrogance about that org, IMO. - bmeltzer
Only one can win the cup, those who lose in the playoffs will be looking for answers, the more the better for CF and the Flyers |

I believe the Leafs should do very little this offseason to be honest. They can score, they can defend and they got good goaltending. They just had a tough first round matchup against the two time Stanley Cup champions whose top players stepped up when they had to. I'd come back with this team and this coach and give it another go. But if the Leafs want to trade us Marner I won't complain! |

The Leafs have to make some changes. The Flyers don't have the assets to trade for Marner.

Never said this team as constructed could compete for a cup. My point was, when teams “get in,” they all ramp up their games. We could all agree what makes the NHL playoffs great, is that players go all out, every shift. And, we also can agree that can’t happen for an 82 game season. There would be no players left, come playoff time. When teams are good enough to make the playoffs, they turn it up a notch. Now wether or not their good enough to beat the opponent in front of them is another story. Thanks |

I agree on his drafting, but I am more critical on anything else ..Acquires damaged goods in trades and overpays for a lesser version of Gudas, as someone described it.
Hextall was good on purging bad contracts
CF is a decent drafting GM
The late Keith Allen was a shrewd GM in pro trades.
Need someone to clone the three into one 3 headed monster GM..
