I hope they don't trade up. I'm no prospect expert, but doesn't sound like there is a lot of difference in the top 5 guys.
- bradster

I agree, an argument can be made that there’s not a lot of difference in the top 8 or 10. The ordder keeps changing. If they could get a decent asset I’d ike to see them move back 4-5 spots and take Lekkerimaki

No you cant....... No team in the NHL has two head coaches. A team has one head coach. If you plan to get a new guy, you fire the current one.

Hence why PHI, DET, WPG and VGK currently do not have a head coach. Some more teams could decide to fire guys but until they do Trotz is looking at whats available now and ranking the teams. He will likely wait over the course of the playoffs to see if any other options become available. Other teams may decide to fire coaches but nothing is guaranteed. The guaranteed firings happen immediately after the season ends. Not after the 1st round of playoffs

Ugh, My playoff Bracket was perfect until the last 3 games. Stupid Oilers and Rangers had to win.

So much for that Pens long run Stayin Alive

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

So much for jarry out whole series minus one game and sid out game 6 πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Obviously that changed EVERYTHING

It doesnt change anything. Every game the Pens lost they choked repeatedly with a 2-3 goal lead. They won 3 games without Jarry and if you cant win because you lost one player in Game 5 you arent a good team

All these teams remaining in the playoffs have at least 3 players better than anyone the Flyers have. Shows you how far the Flyers are away from being competitive, let alone a contender.

These teams have dynamic studs up and down the lineup. Where are the Flyers getting players like this?

There is no rule that says you cant hire another coach while you still have one employed. none.

They can then fire or re-assign the current coach. Just because it hasn't been done doesn't mean it can't.

1. Do you think Trotz ( or other candidates) are not working or have worked back door channels to see what might be available?

2. Do you think he has an idea what might be open after the playoffs?

Roll out the "he's the consensus #1", lol
Consensus #1 according to the media, scouts often don't see eye to eye with the media. Nolan Patrick is a perfect example of that. Was media consensus #1, then jersey passed, and Flyers scouts wanted to pass on Patrick.

This is very interesting to say the least. I would assume Cooley would be the other option. In the Patrick draft, it was assumed Hischier could over take him, but really no mention of another prospect for 1st overall. Flyers have a chance to get a really good prospect. I would be thrilled if Nemec or Slafkovsky slid to 5.

From what i have read about these prospects, i am fine with anyone in the top 5. Or if they take a chance on someone else. I hope they know what they are doing, because we cant screw this up.

No GM is speaking and looking for a coach while they are in the playoffs. Playoffs are 100% the focus. Trotz may wait until after playoffs to see what happens but it is unlikely any coaches will be fired from a team that wasnt outed in the 1st round.

Toronto for example is just as likely to keep Keefe as firing him. It could go either way. Frankly despite the loss, that was the best game 7 they played in 5 years. Coaching in the NHL is not the same as a regular job. Teams are not interviewing behind the scenes and knowing they got a guy before letting the current one go. They fire the current coiach then start looking.

Yup, better to be lucky then good with this draft. I don't want to see them trade down that is for sure.

Yea it hurts but a team is more than one player. The team has won without Crosby Consistently. Hell they did it without both Malkin and Crosby. The fact is that series was winnable without Jarry and without Crosby

so winnable. and I wont try to twist it into they deserved to win it, because they didnt. part of the game is being healthy. but it cant just be swept under the rug as if it bore no consequence on the outcome

You are high.

Tampa stole the series from Toronto, they had no business winning that series. Toronto controlled the play for most the series. Tampa looks gassed, combine that with Point who looked like tore something in his leg they way it bent in Game 7, I would expect is done for playoffs and Kucherov who seems like hes playing through something.

Tampa is not likely to win the series.

Rangers struggled to beat a Pens team using a 3rd string Goalie. Neither the Pens or Rangers are contenders. Canes should be able to win the series as long as Raanta is healthy or they get Andersen back

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Yup
FWIW, I'm guessing:
Canes over Rags in 6
Panthers over TB in 6
UPSET PICK-Blues over Avs in 7
Flames over Oilers in 6

CONF FINALS
Florida over Canes in 7
Flames over Blues in 7

SCF: Florida over Calgary in 6
