If they can trade Petry to Pitt for Letang's right + pick/prospect I think he would be ideal to mentor all the young D that will be in the lineup.

if by assets you mean pick/prospect for Petry then yes, but Letangs rights arent much of an asset to Pitt if they cant sign him they will lose him for nothing.
Yes its a great deal for MTL in getting rid of Petry's cap but Pitt gets an experienced RHD for peanuts to replace Letang and then use that extra 1M saved to up their bid on Malkin from 3x5 to 3x6
