I'd love to get PLD here myself, as I mused about OSing him awhile ago. That said I don't think the value offered would be enough.
-Johnson likely has zero value due to the very real threat of bolting to UFA status
-What is Mitts value? I don't think anyone knows, certainly isn't very high

Been on the Campbell train for a bit myself. He played well in the PO's. Love his story and is reported to be a great teammate. He fits for sure.

Not a PK fan myself.

- IonSabres

the johnson's pick does have value, a late second

my gut says casey is worth a mid second right now

so that is an early 1st, and 2 seconds for PLD

Interesting...

https://www.expectedbuffa...e-dubois-subban-campbell/

Trade 1: Buffalo Sabres acquire Pierre-Luc Dubois from the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for 9th overall in the 2022 NHL Draft, Ryan Johnson, and Casey Mittelstadt

Instead, I landed on signing P.K. Subban to a two-year deal with a $5 million cap hit. The former Norris Trophy winner is at the end of his career, but he had a nice bounce-back season with the New Jersey Devils in a smaller role.

The last signing is a new starting goaltender. I went with an option that is starting to grow on me a little more. I inked Jack Campbell to a three-year deal with a $6 million cap hit.

- kingcong39

That's probably a fair price for PLD. He is a top 15 1C in the league and still young.

There is no way I give Subban a two year contract.

who the (frank) wants to overpay PK Subban again.

As far as PLD, I think 31 Mitts does it

- TheSabresTaco

Why do you think that would be enough?

Because PLD wants out?

Casey is worth more than the Florida pick 1st round IMO

Mid second is like a mid third for james vesey

You are right - I thought he had better numbers than he does. He is a 2C on a good team and that's probably an overpayment if we included #9.

I would also be worried that he seems to regularly want out of wherever he is at.

I think Campbell made $1.6 this year. Unless he really doesn't want to play in Buffalo, how does he turn down $6 million, per?

His contract projection is $5.7M for 6 years, so maybe the shorter term would be an issue?

So we talkin Conn Smythe #2 for ROR?

Also, there’s no question in my mind that the Bills were the best team in the playoffs last year and if it wasn’t for the massive 13 second (frank)up, they would’ve steamrolled the Bungals at home and beat the Rams in the Super Bowl. The NFL knows it too. That’s why they’re playing the Rams in the Season Kickoff. Just been thinking about how much Allen loves to shut Ramsey’s big mouth up, can’t wait.

- Hatboro_Swords

Except they werent. And those 13 seconds are part of the whole 60 minutes.

Call it bad time management, bad discipline, or cockiness by the bills team, if you don't win more than a game in the playoffs, you can say we were the best team.

There was a wild rumor last offseason that PLD played poorly in the playoffs due to spending a lot of off ice time helping his dad's renovation business.

Then pay him $8-9.

Good god that seems like too much term and AAV

30 year old goalie who just played his first "full" season with 49 games.

2.5 GAR and .5 WAR

That's a no from me dog

They use years of data and comparable deals to come up with the contract projections.

It doesn't mean they are always right, and it's important to look at their range, i.e. their top 3 projected deals.

The other top 3 projected deals for Campbell are 3 years at $5.6M per and 2 years at $4.6M per.

That's why Chad did 3 years at $6M per.

I'm basing it off of the cost of Reinhart and Buchnevich, because of age, contract status and production. I'm aware that he is a natural center, which is why I offered to pay more than the former two. The return demand is fluid because you don't know what WPG wants to do with him. If they really want him there, I don't see a reason to overpay for him.

Is there really a difference between 2 years and 3 years and the extra million per year?

Can the Sabres afford to be picky in that regard?

If they offer 2 years at $5M per and he says he'll sign if the offer is upped to 3 years and $6M per, you're saying no thanks and moving on to another goaltending target?

You have 2 years of team control left with PLD compared to one when Reinhart was traded, no?

Then the question isn't really his contract, it's that you have no interest in him if you think he's a bad goaltender, which is fine 👍
