Dahlin is preparing to build quite the house next to Tuch. I tell you this because it's clear as day to me that he fully intends on remaining here for a very long time.

Riding his way to UFA like Sam is not going to happen. Yes I know the org played way too big of a part in how that transpired.

Just don't come away with the impression that it would ever be Dahlin that wants to give up on Buffalo.

It's why Marchment and Comrie make sense at forward and goal.

Neither will cost much, nor be long term, and both are solid.

That's the ideal route, but a 1 or even a 2 year deal, even at a massive salary isn't going to hurt this team at all. Good cap management is the flexibility to get the higher dollar contracts off your books as soon as possible.

It's $2.5M against their cap for 3 seasons.

He does more than just provide points.

If he does regress, it's a nothing burger on the Sabres cap. Hell, it's $1.5M if they bury him in the AHL.

I would rather pay malkin or letang insane money to get to the cap floor then pay for a few more Boychuks
