UFAs work out all of the time. I think what you meant to say is that big-ticket UFAs rarely work out. I don't think a guy like Letang would be a big-ticket item because term would be short.

This is pretty much spot on. The first years of UFA deals usually work out okay, at least. It's the nightmare of needing to get out from under the deal in years 4-8 where the problem lies.

I think he might appeal to the side of TPegs that liked the big-ticket additions: Rex Ryan, Taylor Hall, etc. Maybe in his mind he would think that Letang makes us cup contenders.....
