With suggestions of signing Malkin and others like Fiala, Fosberg, etc...
Is this suggesting that the Sabres need another top line?
I'm in that camp myself, just wondering if others really see it the same way, or is this just wanting a big name player added? - IonSabres
For me it was a #1 center without trading assets and only money which we have tons of right now. A short term deal at 30-40% more than other teams are offering could entice him. He won cups already, dangle several more million a year to a dude at end of career and he might bite
I argue it helps our young guys growth, not stunting it. Guys like Cozens and Krebs play on lines they are supposed to instead of lining up against other teams top lines and getting beat. Success breeds more success, and they can do that with lesser competition against them.
When malkin is gone our guys are ripe to take over and we Will still be good with cap and have all our prospects. That was my thinking |

A bit of information for you.
Dahlin is preparing to build quite the house next to Tuch. I tell you this because it's clear as day to me that he fully intends on remaining here for a very long time.
Riding his way to UFA like Sam is not going to happen. Yes I know the org played way too big of a part in how that transpired.
Just don't come away with the impression that it would ever be Dahlin that wants to give up on Buffalo. - TheSabresTaco
Well not getting him signed long term this past offseason is now a giant kick to the nuts. |

So if you put up 63 points you can completely ignore 2/3 of the ice ?
Also I didn’t bring this up, so for all the people who cry about it, that’s on you. |

As a season ticket holder, good skinner is very fun to watch and root for.
His salary will remain an overpayment buffatax, but now helps get the team to the floor.
Is what it is
I'm thinking 35 goals and 65 points |

just run and stop the run - homiedclown
How Russell Wilson won his only SB, and how Peyton won #2.
Marshawn Lynch led the league in total yards amassed on the ground in the 4 year stretch where the Seahawks went to 2 SB.
The Seahawks ranked 1st in rushing attempts and 32nd in passing attempts in both SB appearances. The irony being if they handed it off one more time, Wilson would be a 2 time SB winner.
Also ironic how Wilson become a top 5 QB during the stretch from 2016-2020 and went 3-5 in the playoffs and didn’t come close to sniffing another SB appearance without the Legion of Boom and a solid ground game |

I’ve wasted enough ink on a guy who is $3M overpaid per year.
Tarasenko was worth his contract for the entirety of his prime, then put up 82 points in 75 games this year on a freshly surgically repaired shoulder months after we were wondering if St.Louis would expose him for nothing. |

Easy pass. Not paying any guy over a 3 year contract on FA |

I don't know about all of this. I think there is a better explanation:
- Seattle won in part because they had a quarterback on a rookie contract. When they had to pay him they started losing talent (not to mention some really questionable personnel decisions).
- Manning took a mediocre team and lifted them up higher than they deserved to be (especially in the later years).

I like the logic as stated. Although to me it means another move...also, if not Malkin, find another guy who can play there (easier said than done I know)
If you bring in a 1C, I assume then tha Tage's line remains in tact and is shifted down to L2, right. I mean why mess with success of that line.
Then, the remaining question is who plays on L1 with Malkin...do you also go for it by bringing in a Fiala?
I just don't see it happening this offseason...I could however see it next offseason once Adams et all have a looksie at the roster with additions of Peterka and Quinn, while giving another year to Krebs, Tage and Cozens...and to Mitts. Lots of promises in those names, but need to see them more.

Buying out Bjork on June 15 results in cap hits of
$300k in 22-23
and
$100k in 23-24
That feels like a no brainer. It also saves $1.2m in real money for Tpegs |

Sure, but in terms of real money wouldn't he still have to spend it on someone else anyway just to get to the floor?
