I have a buddy in Cancun right now too. Say hi to him and his wife for me. Just look for the other sunburned Canadians.

Hola Sean! Tequila will help drown your sorrows but be careful it has a tendency to sneak up on you.
I agree with you though, Flames in 6!

Seeing as how the Flames barely squeaked past the weakest team to make the playoffs and have only 1 line that can score I'm not sure why you're so confident or why the Flames are so heavily favored.

Home ice is only worth so much.

I was actually only agreeing with Sean, did you even read the blog?

Even Gretzky picked the Flames over Oilers. He’s not wrong.

Looking forward to this series, should be a good one.

The Stars were not able to score 2 or 3 goals a game against Markstrom. They were able to score about a goal and a half per game on Markstrom. They had empty netters in all their wins.

The Flames aren't heavily favoured, but anyway you analyze it, the Flames are the better team and should win. The Flames are better at scoring goals and preventing goals.

But it is super close. It's two of the best teams in the league and either one of them can win the Cup, but it's hard to make an argument as to how the Oilers win besides McDavid is the best hockey player of all time.

But that's all "on paper" talk. Anything can happen.

Exactly. Let them play out the series and see what happens. Obviously I would prefer the Oilers win but mostly because these delusional knobs from Calgary need to get knocked down a peg or two.

You obviously haven't really looked into it (or read the article I guess). Since Woody took over, the Flames record was 26-8-5 to the Oilers 26-9-3. One more game played by the Flames, but 2 more points. In fancy stats, the Oilers only bested the Flames in XGF%, HD Scoring Chances% and PDO.

From the article...
However since Woodcroft took over Edmonton is a far better matchup for the Flames. Since Feb 11 when JW took over the Flames are 4th in GF with 95 compared to Edmonton in 5th with 93. The Flames are 4th in GA with 66 compared to the Oilers in 11th with 73. Again, Calgary comes out on top but it's far closer than the full regular season numbers would suggest.

Obviously, there are some discrepancies when using different sources, but overall, the stats still point to an overall advantage for the Flames.

Reading is not his strong suit.

Top 2 teams in the NHL since the Allstar break! It’s going to be a great series.

Reading.....or comprehension?

A hate to agree with the masses, but I also figured Flames in 6. Would be happy to see it tilt the other way though.

Draisaitl not at 100% is going to hurt the Oil's chances in this series.

You're kidding right? 1 more game played but 2 more points? That sounds even to me. Looks like you don't know how to do math.

Where are all the Oiler fans anyways? Just a bunch of Flames fans running their mouths on this article.

Sorry to burst your bubble Flamers but Oilers are taking this series. No stopping McD, he's at a whole new level now.

This from Jason Gregor on Oilersnation:

These teams are very evenly matched. They’ve been almost identical since Edmonton made a coaching change.

In their final 38 games:

The Oilers scored 3.82 goals/game and allowed 2.76. Their PP was 24.1% and PK was 82.1%

The Flames scored 3.84 goals/game and allowed 2.63. Their PP was 24.5% and PK was 81.5%

This sounds like an evenly matched series to me. Lets see if all you can read and comprehend this.

Or you could of just read Sean's blog, maybe?

"On paper it has to be the Calgary Flames. They finished the regular season 6th in 5 on 5 GF and 1st in 5 on 5 GA. No team allowed fewer goals at 5 on 5 than the Calgary Flames. Edmonton finished 10th in GF and 19th in GA. Just because I am semi-realistic about the team's chances doesn't mean I'm not a fan, just not a homer. Been cheering for them for like 40 years. Closet's full of jerseys, and office has paraphernalia all over the walls; I'm just don't drink the koolaid is all.

Gregor goes a lot more in depth on the stats than Sean does.

As for the fan part you can say whatever you want but no real fan would pick the hated rival Calgary Flames to beat the Oilers in the playoffs. You would be shamed right off the board at Oilersnation. A place where a bunch of Oiler fans actually get together and cheer their team. Not this ghost town of a site.

Glad I don't go to Oilersnation then. If you're fine with mediocrity, then all the power to you.

Not sure what being a cheerleader has to do with being a fan. I like where I work too, doesn't mean I'm not identifying things that are done poorly, and trying to make them better for tomorrow.
