This from Jason Gregor on Oilersnation:

These teams are very evenly matched. They’ve been almost identical since Edmonton made a coaching change.

In their final 38 games:

The Oilers scored 3.82 goals/game and allowed 2.76. Their PP was 24.1% and PK was 82.1%

The Flames scored 3.84 goals/game and allowed 2.63. Their PP was 24.5% and PK was 81.5%

This sounds like an evenly matched series to me. Lets see if all you can read and comprehend this.

You really are an idiot, aren't you? Every single person has said that it's an evenly matched series, but the Flames are slightly better on paper and have home-ice advantage. The article you're linking says the Flames are slightly better. 3.84 is higher than 3.82 and 2.63 is lower than 2.76. Which goalie would you pick if you had the choice? Which group of defencemen? Which coach has done it all before? Anyone who isn't biased is going to pick the Flames for all three of those. Even the forwards are fairly close unless Draisaitl is at 60%.

The most important number from the people smarter than all of us, the casinos in Vegas, have the Flames as the favourites.

It's close, but the series probably won't end in a tie, so the smart choice is the Flames, but no one is going to be surprised if the Oilers win.

You're the fucking idiot. You just stated on the previous page 'the Flames are the better team and should win'. That doesn't sound like you think it's an evenly matched series. People who resort to name calling are the ones who have already lost the argument.

Adding the colorful metaphor to the derogatory term makes you a winner, as opposed to the one who has lost the argument, who is the losser.

I guess Gretzky isnt a fan of the Oilers if he predicted Calgary to win the series.

Well what’s he supposed to say? All you goofs will just call him a drunk ass homer if he calls it for the Oilers…and you would half right to do so.

You guys are all the ones that appear to be unable to debate, argue or trash talk without immediately resorting to insults and name calling.

Just carefully read back over the comments today and all I was doing was giving my side as to why the Flames aren't favorites and you all immediately go to insults and name calling and only then did I give it back.

I'd expect that from Turd but I guess you're all at his same level.

I see, so to summarize, Flames fans (and Sean) say series should be close, but it looks slightly tilted towards Calgary's favor. You argue and say Oil have been the better team since Woodcroft, and point to an article that provides stats (like Sean's blog) that don't back you up (but it is still close, like everyone has said). Everyone here doesn't have a clue, because Oilnation agrees with you. Even though all of the pros, including the oddsmakers, seem to back our stance. Someone calls you an idiot (only 1 person, after many many responses to your posts), you double down on it with your reply (but of course that doesn't speak to your charactor, you're just having a reasonable debate), I'm not a real fan because I have an objective opinion, and somehow Turd (who hasn't even posted) is leader of our band of Calgary conspirators.

That about cover it?

What was lost in the whole discussion of who's statistically better or even is the specifics of the matchup: they're perhaps the worst matchup for EDM. A hard-working, tenacious, defensively-sound team that skates well and pressures HARD and they're actually ready to play at puck drop.
