You started by making a comment that I can't comprehend what I'm reading. Forgot to mention that in your speel eh? - Oildrum
Actually, that’s the part where they all said something, and you failed to comprehend it, as you still seem prone to. How’s the matchup so far, in your estimation? |

With Smith in goal you'll never win it all. - Lauerg
I wouldn't really blame Smith. They'll never win it all with defencemen playing like that. The Flames make Bouchard look like a Junior B defenceman. |

Bouchard has a lot of work to do on his D, for sure. Keith is just brutal though, those are the last 2 that should be paired together.
And I still blame Smith for 2 of those. Horrible start. |

Not really. Was hoping Calgary was only a slightly better team, then a little luck could tilt the ice. The teams aren’t even remotely close at this point. |

Score maybe, but they were outplayed all night, and outshot 2:1. They are going to have to smarten up, and tighten up the D, if they don’t went to get swept out of the series. |

Hopefully we see a more disciplined game on Friday and a rebounded Mike Smith. |

This from Jason Gregor on Oilersnation:
These teams are very evenly matched. They’ve been almost identical since Edmonton made a coaching change.
In their final 38 games:
The Oilers scored 3.82 goals/game and allowed 2.76. Their PP was 24.1% and PK was 82.1%
The Flames scored 3.84 goals/game and allowed 2.63. Their PP was 24.5% and PK was 81.5%
This sounds like an evenly matched series to me. Lets see if all you can read and comprehend this. - Oildrum
You get your stats from an Oiler fanboy site and think they are unbiased...using the final 38 games because that is the Oilers best stretch of their season. The Flames were home and clear of a playoff spot and even the division while the Oilers were still in the race.
Score flattered the Oilers big time tonight...Flames totally controlled the play despite not having their best defensive dman and their goalie playing well below his normal level.
I'm not saying its over but the Flames were certainly favored...take all the fans out of it and look at the Vegas odds

We were discussing the comparisons after Woodcroft took over so that is the stretch of games. Remember, the Flames were an overtime goal away from not even being in the 2nd round. Oil win next game and we have the split.

Serious question why hang around the message boards of a team you hate ? - Reveen
I don’t hate the Oilers, I want them to win. More importantly, I want Leaf’s, Flames and Sabres fans to suffer even more though. |

The Leafs have nothing to do with this.
Your goaltending sucks, and you have no chance of advancing.
You barely beat LA without Drew Doughty

What was lost in the whole discussion of who's statistically better or even is the specifics of the matchup: they're perhaps the worst matchup for EDM. A hard-working, tenacious, defensively-sound team that skates well and pressures HARD and they're actually ready to play at puck drop. - MaximumBone One might think that Vegas looks at game starts as an indicator. CGY with 54 games scoring first. EDM was 29th in scoring first. Dallas was probably the best matchup CGY could get in round 1. They had to be defensively sound and Marky had to be on. Not exactly sure how the game devolved into next (2) goal wins. I have my ideas. We stopped checking. It wasn't even close until mid 2nd. Relentless forecheck. Open ice hits. Putting McD into the boards. Hitting the D before they get set.
Woody is a smart coach, but he didn't have a chance with the way the team came out. Nobody is going to talk about McPoint's 4 point night when he was on for 5 against. Do they have a goalie controversy again? Doubt Smith allows anyone else to start.

It’s about the only thing you can fault him for. But let’s be honest 4 points for but on for 5 against doesn’t look very good. |

Oilers had absolutely no business being in that game. Woodcroft says they should have won because they scored six even strength goals on the road....
What game was he watching?

He didn't even put Smith back in after they got 4 past Koski. |
