Suppose it depends on where you set the bar, if first round losses are the bottom of the barrel then yes. We could go 55 if we really wanted too, but that would be dramatic right. |

Can you (and everyone else for that matter) please drop the backhanded / passive aggressive insults towards opinions other than the one you have. All that crap does it instigate the arguments which digress to name calling etc. I'd prefer not to have a summer of that.
Have a different opinion, and voice it provided it's done politely and maturely - resorting to backhanded insults and name calling (not saying you did that here but I'm saying that's where this stuff goes to far too often) is not that.
I just read an excellent exchange between 2 posters about the value of a stud D man vs a stud goalie etc. Use that as an example - no name calling or insults just a good old honest debate. It was refreshing to see.
Thx - Cush29

Alright, I'll bite.
Goaltending is going to be Dubas' toughest job. If Mrazek can return to form, he'll be a solid 1B, assuming Campbell resigns to a cap-friendly deal, which I think will get done. But two groin injuries is kind of scary, and I'd rather just move him and let Krallgren take the backup role.
Next up, Kerfoot needs to go. I'll take a top 9 winger with size, maybe a bit less upside offensively, but less than 3.5M. Long shots: Kase (Nylander playing the left side), Robertson, Joey Anderson. Likely: a trade.
Need some Marlies grads; we need cheap contracts on this team. Steeves, Robertson, Anderson, maybe Curtis Douglas, but likely he's not ready, but who knows. 6'9" guy with hands and not afraid to drop the gloves? Yes please. - gravyface
All good points.. I don't think Campbell will be back though, and Mrazek will probably be moved unless they can't get a better option via trade/FA.
Kerfoot, is the most likely guy to be traded in my opinion. The Leafs do need a 2 LW with some size that can play physical.. Attributes that do not match what Kerfoot brings..
Robertson, I hope is finally ready to make the jump but I don't know where he plays in the lineup.. Maybe as the 13th forward?
There could be as many as 8 roster changes to the team.. So, it's not exactly running it back..

Its only been a few days.
Hasnt gotten old yet. - Fakepartofme
Oh but it has.
What people are looking to do here discuss hockey, not come and see a barrage of constant complaints that the team sucks, and will probably just 'run it back' and expect different results.
Come in and post specifically should change - who should go, who should stay, who should be targeted in FA etc. The entire narrative of 'the core needs to change' without any specifics or snapping at someone who perhaps disagrees with big changes with a "Oh so run it back & expect something different" in a mocking way and/or the "they have lost in the 1st round x # of times, set records on this etc" is what people are tired of reading and quite honestly is nothing more than loudly and repetitively stating an opinion or fact and/or even the rationale for why change is needed.
Everyone gets it now, most if not all feel change is needed - let's shift to talking about what change, how and who (which is the interesting stuff really) vs unnecessarily re-stating the why it needs to happen.
I don't think ANYONE here doesn't think change needs to or is going to happen, what the change needs to be or should be is the debate to have in a mature and polite manner.

I have zero faith that Mrazek is useful in any form. It seems like even at his best he was propped up by some really good defensive teams. He's an erratic poop show you can't even trust to be healthy let alone stop the puck.
Lets just move right on from that, before you even consider how much the team could use his cap space elsewhere. |

Dubas should get a statue if he can find takers for Mrazek and Kerfoot, as both free up 7.3M, and they're easy to replace. - gravyface
I think Leaf fans donât think Kerfoot has the value he doesâŚthey did the same thing with Kapanen.
Kerfoot had 48 even strength points. Marchand, Tavares, Nylander, Debrincat, HertlâŚthese are the names that he had the same amount of even strength points as.
He is an excellent PKer. He can play C.
If a team puts him out on the PP he can get 60 points.
The Leafs arenât giving him away, in fact he could be part of a package to bring back a significant player. |

My hot take:
There is most likely not a better goaltender for less money available this offseason than Campbell and the Leafs should bring him back with a hometown discount he is probably willing to take.
3 years @ 3.5M gets it done. You bring back a guy that's extremely appreciated in the lockeroom, who's been very good overall this year and you remove the risk of fishing for something better and end up with Mrazek 2.0.
OR
Trade for Jake Allen. He's cheap, probably just as good as Campbell and signed only for 1 year. |

I like Kerfoot.
Sometimes it feels he goes too fast for his own brain.
But he's annoying to play against, and that's saying something.

Once they have pieces in place they need the coach to embrace the idea that stability is a thing. Depth is awesome but you can't still be throwing darts to make your lines all across the bottom six come playoff time. Give these guys time to know their linemates, intuition is a thing.
Babcock probably microwaved his burrito for 27 minutes, Keefe stops and flips his a dozen times through 2 minutes. |

He has his flaws like any non star.
But he does a lot of things right, I think he is a player that fits on any team.
He could slide into a 2C spot, 3C spot, or any LW spot.
He also has a 750K salary this season. Which quite a few owners would love.
If he hits the market he is a hot commodity. And next offseason he likely gets 4.5M. |

Campbell really wants to play here and if they can find a taker for Mrazek, even taking most of that salary back, but addressing a need (bottom 6 Mickey replacement), they'll likely have enough to re-sign Soup.
The guy's never been a starter before coming here, so he shouldn't expect a big raise, particularly after a big dip in performance after December of this year.
He was kinda bad for a couple of months. All the same, the Leafs still managed a record season with not exactly Vezina goaltending, so that just goes to show you all you need to know about not (frank)ing with this roster too much.
Robertson's only 20, I don't think they'll sit him vs. playing him in all situations on the Marlies.
Anderson could be the 13th forward, but I think he'd play and Cliffy would sit (if not punted down to the Marlies as a our new Clune). |

The thing with Robertson is if they get that LW we expect them to get and they re sign EngvallâŚitâs just another season where he plays 4th line mins.
He could use a team that he can play in the top 9 and have some rope. |

There's also nothing wrong with dominating the AHL before making the jump.
I remember when Pacioretty said he'd rather play top line minutes in the AHL than play 10 min a night on the Habs fourth line.
He dominated the AHL, got called up and was a top line forward afterward. |
