The refs are always bad and the league has nothing to do with it.
And I'm saying that fully understanding how frustrated the lack of consistency in calls can be. - Scabeh
I'm sure the Panthers fans, both of them, feel the same way. |

I never said I loved him...but I'd challenge anyone to come up with a better option that: a) doesn't involve giving up more assets to bring someone else in; b) doesn't involve signing someone that's just as "unproven"....
Leafs clearly can't go out and trade for/sign a top tier guy...they don't have the cap space, and even if they did, shouldn't be their top priority.
I also never claimed that soup is a "stand-alone starter". He's absolutely a tandem guy.
Lastly on his performance...again I point you to his numbers that I've posted above...his workload doubled this year while his numbers remained consistent to when he was a backup playing half the games (0.915). Please, find me another guy with those numbers that's available this July... I'll wait. - BlackSwan
Alright young man I’m done with this. I wasn’t trying to be rude.
Here watch….ok I concede. I can’t argue any of these points for a couple reasons;
- Correct. I will NEVER be able to suggest another goalie that we could get WITHOUT having to give up something…so for free.
- I can’t compete with someone who has the inside info around the league and factually knows every goalie that could be or are available.
- I’m not the best with analytics so I concede that you are probably right and all Leafs fans would correct me and agree with you that Campbell played the exact same in the second part of par season as he did for those first couple months AND that 6 games and 22 are clearly measurable amounts and Erik loads to equate that to a starter and gauge his performance on. Cause we all know it’s actually harder to play 6 and 22 games consistently vs 50+ as a stater.
- you’re right on the having a stud d man (just one) is far better than having a top flight tender (the most important position in the game). I know that dman that plays 22 mins or so a game on the back end will single handed win you championships.
You ‘wait’ - I’m gonna go for a swim and have a tub. |

They got a powerplay with 3 min left in the game Pat.
The 4th in the game for them.
They just had to score.

Maybe they knew in their hearts the dirty refs would just call it back even if they did score and a little bit of them died inside and they just couldn’t go that extra bit.
Bet you didn’t think of that. |

John Tavares should have been penalized for shooting at the net after the whistle if you ask me! |

What about the one where Huberdeau will obviously sign with his hometown team as a UFA when he gets the chance next year? Just like Matthews in Arizona?

Yeah, they should have scored.. Also, Stamkos should have had a double minor.. Clearly closed his hand on the puck.. |

While I understand the sentiment, you can't assume that.
In 2011 (I still blame Monkey for reminding me this year exists) Habs lost to Boston in OT in 7 games only to see the Bruins win the Cup.
Even if we had defeated Boston, it doesn't imply we would have won anything afterwards. - Scabeh

Nope, that's 2010.
2011 Price was in net, played great but they got a good bounce off Horton in OT.

I don't think he said that, he said Tampa benefited from the poopty reffing.
Or there abouts. - bobbyisno1
His concluding sentence was something along the lines of "Not sure why the league wants tampa to 3 peat"
Either way, Im done with the "the leafs lost due to bad reffing" conspiracy theory.
The leafs had several opportunities to put away the series, they just didnt. |

Kucherov making it obvious again and trolling the league.. You'd think the NHL would frown on it's players for trolling.
If they call the penalty on Stamkos, then the Colton goal never happens |

His being me... Yeah, I think the refs had a hand in the series.. Also, had a hand in last nights game too.. If they call the second penalty on Stamkos for closing his hand on the puck, then the Colton goal never happens.. It's hard to ignore that the calls seem to be skewed in Tampa's favour. |

The conspiracy stuff is crazy. Neither team was able to pull away over the 7 games. In a series as close as that a few extra bad calls can make a huge difference. It’s over |

Leafs looking for deals when Blues win their cup this yr.. They looked very formidable last night.
Question .... Would Leafs be better off with Blues formula of having the goals more spread out ?? 9 x 20 goal scorers as opposed to AM just crushing it and 3 others with 30 plus..

2010 was the year most of the Montreal fan base was like “trade that bum Price we have Halak!” No lie one of my “Facebook memory” things last week popped up from 2010 where I wrote something like “The H in the Habs logo stands for Halak and him wearing Superman colours is appropriate”. He was unreal in that playoff run.
Imagine if Price had been dealt back then? Yikes!
