I brought up the possibility of Toews early in the year but not sure thats an option for us right now.
I will bring up Paul Stastny again in this discussion. He may not be the best, but hes 54.1% on faceoffs for his career, he was 56.6% last year. He wont be expensive to sign at all and you can alternate him and Copp between 2nd and 3rd line based on flow and chemistry.
... and lets not kid ourselves, I love Rooney's heart, but hes horrible on faceoffs. We need someone for the 4th line also and we could move Rooney to RW. Cody Eakin will be a FA and shouldnt be expensive to sign. - aecliptic
It’s never a bad idea to get depth, especially at center. I really don’t care who it is, but someone that you put on the ice simply to win an important draw is crucial to have in the lineup on a nightly basis.
Imagine Patrice Bergeron forgoes retirement says hey maybe I could win a cup with the NYR, lemme go there for a couple years. It looked like the end in Boston one way or the other at the end of game 7. Money would obviously be the millions of dollars question. What would he want idk |

Does sportsball really mean that much to you guys? Arguing about millionaires playing a game that doesn’t even matter. We come in here to female dog about the game but then we move on with our lives…. Who won what and when really doesn’t (frank)ing matter. Losers |

They shouldn’t bring back Copp strome or Vatrano. Get a good 2c and resign Kakko and Motte |

You’ve been killing everyone man you realize how hard it is to play the Canes? No one is scoring this series, for either team. 2 forwards total have goals in the series so far. This may end up being the lowest scoring series of the playoffs. It is what it is.
I could see the bloom coming off of Vatrano, but Copp needs to be here. Strome yea buh-bye |

The only players I’ve really killed this series is trouba and strome. The top 6 has been disappointing but Panarin and Kreider have historically good playoffs.
I happen to like Copp I just think he will be paid more than he’s worth. Similar to strome on the open market |

Copps play has suffered with the rest of that line, but of the 3 he’s been the most noticeable IMO.
Saw Rust just resigned with the Pens for a pretty team friendly deal for 6 years and $5.125M. Wonder if that’s a comp for Copp, somewhat similar players. Trying not to think about next season too much just yet, but Drury will have some work to do. |

I just think with the type of centers the rangers currently have with zib and chytl they need a two way faceoff dominant center. A danault or O‘reilly type. I happen to like rust and that contract isn’t bad at all |

Copp is versatile tho like goodrow with more skills. GG must love that about guys, all coaches really
I’ll be disappointed if Copp is one and done here
You could always move Chytil to the wing. He didn’t win one faceoff the other night I’m not sure how many he took, but he was 0% |

I dont care if everyone is all gaga about the kids line, Im still of the mindset to trade Chytil. We cant have a guy playing center winning 36% of his faceoffs.
Unfortunately, we dont have the luxury of salary cap space to just toss away Copp and go for a soon to be UFA like Trocheck. I think Copp get 5m tops to resign. |

This is where I’m at. People who want Chytil to replace Strome as 2C are nuts. I’m fine with him coming back, but he’s shown very little growth at the center position.
Copp is the type of player every coach wants in the lineup, really want to see him back. He would essentially just be taking Stromes current cap hit, so a few other moves would be needed if the team is looking to add a true 2C. No idea how that happens beyond paying a team to take Nemeth.

Lets say we get rid of dead weight: Nemeth, Reaves
Let Strome and Georgiev walk
Trade Chytil
It gives us 19m in cap space.
These are your UFAs: Copp, Vatrano, Motte, Rooney
Pending RFAs: Kakko and Blais
This is what the team looks like as we go into the offseason
Kreider, Zib, _____
Panarin, _____, _____
LAF, _____, _____
Goodrow, _____, _____
Lindgren, Fox
Miller, Trouba
_____, Schneider (yes, Zac Jones could go here)
Shesty

The problem with Chytil is he’s already gotten a bridge deal and raise and hasn’t really done much since. They cannot give him another deal and raise unless he gets better, by quite a bit. If he was still on the ELC, you can deal with it. And also faceoffs obviously are just not good enough. |
