Regardless of where Campbell gets his payday, the Leafs must clear the final two seasons of Mrazek’s $3.8 million AAV off the books, either via buyout or lumping him into a trade package — with a sweetener.
The Leafs need that cap space to invest in a true No. 1 goalie and will need to eat a little crow to do so.
What makes a trade more complicated: Mrazek’s money is backloaded. His actual salary is $4.2 million in 2022-23 and $4.4 million in 2023-24.
After three groin injuries in one winter, who wants to sign on for that bill?

Zona is going to be eating a lot of poop this offseason and getting a lot of picks, prospects and young players to play in front of their 6k fans.

Rust is getting 5.1 million in Pitts with a career high 58 points. Kerfoot esque, and Rust is 30 years of age already. Man, Kerfoot's value on the trade market just went up.

Philly isn’t low on Hart. They’re low on the defensive play surrounding him. And rightly so! Hart, despite his flaws, actually has been given a pass by and large by most fans and media.
I think everyone is still hanging on to the prayer that he’s finally the answer if he just gets some good play in front of him.
Leafs lost this series because they faced more consistent defence and goaltending. Tampa defence nullified the Leaf power play, and when the leafs pressed in game six and game seven, Vasilevsky was there…buying time for Holl to miss his assignment in OT game six, and Nick Paul (3rd line deadline pickup) to dance Brodie to the slot in game seven and Campbell didn’t bail him out. In a game of inches, Tampa was better. Not sure major surgery to the Leafs would provide a different result.
