Flames need to start Vladar in Game 4. Not because Marky is a bad goaltender, but it makes goaltending unknown to the Oilers. Right now, the Oilers know Marky and has figured him out. I thought Vladar played great and most importantly played with composure. Vlader provides someone less familiar for Edmonton.

What are your guys thoughts? Am I making any sense or I'm nuts?

J/K, Flames take game 4. 5-3. And 1230 still sucks it.

I have trouble changing up the flames goalie when most of Kanes goals were odd man rushes and the team was outshot by +10 to +15 at points in the game. The oilers really exposed the flames with quick transitions on that first outlet pass. I am sure Sutter will follow Mclennans lead and clog up those lanes which will force a dump and chase, forecheck and cycle style which is better for the flames.
If you go to your back up next game and he gets shelled, now your down 2 games and you have the Markstroms confidence swirling the toilet.

Sutters not changing goalies, Vladar was in to wake the rest of the team up. Oilers let up in the 3rd and gave the Fllames life, Vladar made a few saves but nothing like what Markstrom went through.

Does Lucic get suspended? To me it didn’t look that bad, he seemed to hold up on the play but still made contact.
If he plays next game, who challenges him? He’s beat Nurse and I believe he’s a little hurt, Kassian will only fight him if he gets the jump on him, Kane is too valuable.

My guess is Lucic gets a fine of some sort at most. I’m quite okay with that as I prefer to see the lumbering caveman on the ice taking stupid penalties in an attempt to justify his ice time.

Smith has a career in acting after hockey. Holy smokes, Looch really let up on him. & the fine over suspension narrative because we like him on the ice is laughable too. They know darn well that didnt even come close to being a suspension, major & game misconduct was ridiculous. In the crease, goalies have to be protected by the league, no arguments there.

Getting Tanev back would be nice

You're nuts. Markstrom is by far the better goalie and was the reason the Flames were in the game after the first. The three Kane scored were impossible to save and the defence was atrocious on all three. He overplayed the first goal a bit, but it was another perfect cross-ice pass and a perfect shot that probably goes in no matter how far he slides.

Also, Einstein never said that, and it's the most overused nonsense cliche of all time that doesn't work at all in sports.

I have to agree. The first goal was slightly too aggressive by Marky, but he just got the angle off by sliding too far. The 2nd goal came after the Oiler PP ended and Coleman came off with Lindy being unable to get on in tiime to impact the play. I'm not going to single out one D, but there are guys that have not raised their games. Hanifin and Ras not communicating. Kylington a bit scrambly, but he's decent with offense. Zaddy has been hit or miss, literally. Stone and Guddy have both been solid, but a little slow against a faster team than Dallas.

Key to the series is getting Tanev back to restore balance. If he's 80%, then dress 11F. As much as Ritchie has been okay, having a vacant spot on the 4th line allows for a RW to help them out. They are good on the forecheck but have no real snipers. If you are going to play them against a top line, then you need more than just not getting scored on. You need them to be able to finish a shift without needing to take a penalty.

Why wouldn't I be? I expected the Flames to win in six and I'm not going to overreact to every game. I've also said repeatedly that McDavid is the best player of all time and the Oilers will beat everyone if he's at the top of his game and Smith is good Smith.

Teams usually come back better after games like that. The Flames have done it all year.

Well you guys are paying part of his salary+ Real Deal Neal’s buyout, not to mention the salary of the replacement roster player. So I can understand wanting to at least watch him for all that $.
