Like the Nazem Kadri deal??
- fifty__missions

I'm happy Kadri is succeeding in Colorado.. With that said, I still feel the trade needed to happen.. Barrie flamed out here, but he was expected to be the top 4 RHD the Leafs needed.. Just didn't work out, and Kerfoot has been good during his time here... Kadri's higher cap hit and back to back playoff suspension, along with a team suspension prior to that meant his time was up as a Leaf..

I would love to have him back, because he's figuring out how to control his emotions now.. Kadri's always been talented, and doesn't back down but emotions got the best of him at times in the past

I havent heard anyone (outside of on here) say it needs to be blown up.
But I have heard most say, a shake up is needed (something along the lines of a new coach a willie trade or a big move for a star goaile...something more significant that changes with the supporting cast).
But they arent blowing it up.
Specially after Gio signed...that move helps them out so much

Gio helped a lot.. Apparently, the Leafs offered him $1M per season and he opted for less money

First, I think the Leafs are really close. But knowing what they are missing is really important.

Second, Florida offers a clear insight into where the Leafs may have come from. Florida won the President's Trophy and a first playoff round by playing great offensive hockey. Panthers have huge regular season offensive talent and won by simply outscoring everyone. On multiple occasions they fell behind on the regular season scoreboard and were able to come back because of their elite offensive power.

Third, Tampa shows us what a team needs to be if they want to win it all.

In today's NHL, teams that can win a Stanley Cup need good goaltending and a strong defensive game in their own end. They also need for every forward to offer up a 200' presence on every shift.

Leafs need to be careful in their thinking. Cannot simplify the challenge as being only one win away from going all the way.

Does anyone else wonder why Seattle and Calgary opened the door allowing Giordano to walk? Be careful when an opportunity appears to good to be true.

Yes, they did.

That's a player move, and one that turned into a mistake, with the gift of hindsight of course. No leadership is immune to that.

The real question is, does he learn from that mistake? That's a sign of growth if he does learn and adapt.

No, I’m making a broader point that even with trading away Kadri, Dubas has managed to significantly improve this team since he got here. He improved it this year and I expect him to improve it next year. I miss Kadri too and have an unrealistic hope that he’s back as 2C next year with JT as his winger.

That would be awesome
