I’m not saying anything negative about Trouba, but there is a certain Norris trophy candidate that sits ahead of him on NYR depth chart. - Jetlag
Fox-Trouba-Schneider-Lundqvist is a jacked right side, even if the latter 2 should be swapped.
Lindgren-Miller is also pretty good. Just run those 6 for the next half a decade if you’re New York |

I see Mason Marchment is a UFA, who Florida may have trouble squeezing in under the cap. I think he’d be great as a middle six player on the Jets. - Jetlag
Yes, strongly agree, but the season he just had will come with top 6 money. He was a legit top line forward all season long.
If he was signing in Colorado or Carolina, I’m not worried, he’ll outperform it.
Here? You might get a 35 point guy at 5 mil |

Oilers will over pay for Helle right now!!
I’d happily give them Helle and Stanley
And take back Smith (for cap reasons for them) skinner (a goalie who has a legitimate shot at being a number one! ) Puljo, and then two of these pieces;
Any 2 of
Bouchard
Holloway
Bourgault
2023 first rounder |

I'd do that but doubt the Oilers would overpay that much, that's quite a bit for Helle and Stanley.
Wanting two of Bouchard, Holloway, Bourgault, 2023 1st
on top of Puljujarvi, Skinner, Smith is a lot and really just can't see Edmonton parting with Bouchard, he's a big part of their team now and going forward.

Yes I agree Bouchard would be the toughest part to get, but honestly, they would see Helle as the final piece for them, so what are they willing to pay for that.

Very happy to finally see Serevalli reporting what I’ve been saying. Shiefele is the biggest pain in the ass, whiner, cry baby to the team. He can’t get over his contract and is now a cancer. |

So I guess Chevy has no choice now and will trade him for a defenseman like Pionk and a first round draft pick |

Is Shief a pending UFA telling all teams he is only going to sign in New York in one year to? Lol, then yup, guess so. 😂 |

Unlike Trouba who had no trade protection, Scheifele has a 10 team no trade clause, that already puts the Jets in a handicapped position. The teams that could essentially offer something are most likely the teams he has on his list. Good luck getting anything more than a defenseman like Pionk and first round draft pick. The Jets would most likely also have to take a cap dump in order to balance the salaries.
Meaning that any trade the Jets make for Scheifele, they get royally ripped off!

Yea some people can't get over it that Trouba had Chevy backed into a corner - with only one year to UFA - and one team that he would go to.
If we don't trade Scheif NOW, we may have the same situation here. But you have to be a hockey person to understand that situation, don't you?
On another note - K'Andre Miller - Logan Stanley - much similar, right?
First I thought the proposed Edmonton trade above was garbage. But on second thought - I'd give my right arm to acquire Evan Bouchard, forget most of the rest. Doubt he is available! Tell them to keep Jesse Puljujarvi! |

Chevy backed himself into that corner by hanging onto Trouba for WAY too long. |

He hung on to trouba that long because we had just been to the conference final and were believed to be a contender. Trouba still had value (even after hanging on to him for the season) and you don’t win by trading away players like trouba
Somewhat inevitable but it’s not fair to try and compare trouba to Pionk. Different players, styles and different situations brought them to the Jets. Pionk fits the cap, need of the team and is a good player with more to give. |

Trouba was an RFA at the end of his deal with Winnipeg. He had 0 trade protection and could have been dealt anywhere. Chevy at that time chose to cave into Trouba’s request. What Chevy should have done was, held onto Trouba until he found the best deal for him. Trouba could have been forced to sit until the Jets found a better deal. This whole he would only play for NYR crap is baffling, I think Trouba is the only RFA with 0 trade protection, I have ever heard of getting dealt to the team of his choosing. |

Under the guidance of Kurt Overhardt I have no doubt that Trouba was willing to sit until December to force the issue. What GM in thier right mind would have given up more than a first round pick and a good young player for 1/2 a season of Trouba? Perhaps he would have signed with the Islanders or New Jersey but the isles didn't have the need or cap space for him and he didn't really fit NJ's development window. Trading him sooner would have been selling out the Jets fans opportunity to challenge in the playoffs a year after finishing #2 overall and reaching the conference final.
Through most of the time leading up to the trade i couldn't help but think of the Hall-Larson trade and thought there was a potential windfall coming but it was a different situation. Player using all the leverage they had to shape their market, cap crunch and they still got back an NHL RHD, first round pick and cap space to sign Laine and more. Not bad for our 2nd line RHD. |

Trouba would still have been under team control if he chose to sit for another year. Chevy should have played chicken with him. And, who knows whether the Byfuglien “retirement” would have changed Trouba’s mind to stay in Winnipeg. I do think that Byfuglien was part of the bully group that Ross likes to refer to. With Myers going to free agency, there was no one else that had the capabilities to anchor the blue line.

The Islanders fired Trotz assistant coaches, has anyone heard if they've bought houses in Winnipeg?.. |
|

Sounds like Trotz and the Jets are meeting again this weekend, I bet he's announced as the new head coach on Monday or Tuesday.
This will be True North's big offseason win to satiate a fanbase that's losing interest. |

I was thinking that they would do his contract signing on Portage & Main. |

I hope the Jets can hire him, I would love to see a Canadian team score one of the big fish. |

I hope the Jets can get some big fish players, with or without Trotz they're going nowhere with this current lineup. |

Wondering same....
Extending Chevy is starting to look more and more like a major blunder.

The guy has essentially taken last 3 months off! Worst GM in the league. |
