Surprised we aren't talking about what it would take to get MatthewTkachuk and what he would cost cap wise on his next contract. - TheFreak
Somewhere in the neighborhood of $10 mil. The bigger issue besides cap space will be term.

If I'm Tkachuk and it's an 8 year deal, I'm looking for at least 11M.

I’m a huge tkachuck fan. He’s not asking for 11 m or getting it. I could see an eichel like 8/80 tho |

From my extensive review of coaches I still vote Monty for this bunch.
Oh yeah Hextall was both terrible and good.
Chuck Fletcher ruined this team while he helped it, by seeding Cliff. - konalover711
One of hexys worst and least talked about moves was letting Mullen go. Other than drafting Patrick it might have been his worst move.
Any chance we can get him back..? |

Within reason I’ve decided that I don’t really care who the next coach is. So many roster and developmental problems I just don’t see the coach making much difference one way or another right now. - hereticpride
Good plan. I occasionally check in until I hear that Chuck Fletcher has been fired.
I’m Debating cancelling my Comcast cable tv package and telling them I am cancelling until until Chuck Fletcher is is fired, then I’ll resubscribe. |

Calgary's not gonna have too much trouble locking up their top guys. They have cap space, and they can open up even more room by buying out Monahan.

Here's the thing, she says she was too intoxicated to give appropriate consent yet she remembers the event clearly doesnt make sense to me. I understand she claims that she was pressured but thing is, if she got into a car in her state. She couldnt claim that she was too intoxicated to make the proper choice to not drive so why is it an excuse here? It is one thing if she is passed out but she is able to describe in full detail everything that was allegedly done to her. Not to mention the substantial amount of money in compensation asked to be paid. She was looking for over 5 mill if I understood it correctly.
When cases are settled and the alleged victim accepts a settlement, it makes it seem like it was about the money.
Yeah I see that point and I always tend to look at these situations with first thought of did you intentionally put yourself in this position. With that said while reading the details about what allegedly happened there’s one thing I can’t get around and why I tend to believe her…
I think she clearly while intoxicated fully was fully aware why she left with John Doe #1 and what the intention was when she went to the hotel (sex) as this would seem logical
The problem is …
Allegedly after the encounter John Doe #1 THEN invited the other 7 players into room and clearly things happened. To what extent as described by the woman may or may not be 100% accurate for reasons you stated( how intoxicated and how much could she remember with detail)
But logically thinking she probably didn’t intend to have 7 other players run train on her. Generally that isn’t happening. Could it have been her intention? Maybe but probably not likely.
More likely she was drunk and hooked up with John doe#1 and if things happened as she alleged well actually that’s rape not sexual assault.
This smells to high heaven as a major cover up. If she was crying and tried to leave room and dudes penetrated vaginally that’s rape.
This smells of settlement to sweep under rug by Chl and nhl probably because nhl players are involved and woman wants it over with and she is getting paid millions in hush $.
Problem is stories like don’t just die. The players involved will be exposed eventually at least to some extent. Or at minimum players that were around the bar at time will always be looked at “possible” attackers.
Maybe the players thought she was willing as most likely they would be intoxicated too most likely and maybe she didn’t make it clear enough she wasn’t really willing.
Just seems weird basically gets drunk leaves bar with dude gets laid THEN GUY INVITES 7 DUDES into room to do what was alleged.
I think it went done most likely how she described even if not 100% correct. - Stayin alive
Here's the thing though, if you were or assaulted or raped by 8 guys, you would disclose their identity and go after them. Not one of the 8 players was named, she simply went after the hockey league instead. If you are looking for justice you look to punish the wrong doers. I have no doubt in my mind that what she said happened was true, I question the fact she denies consent and how she's protected the players in question

There’s a shortage of true power forwards in the NHL. Tkuchuk is making $7 mil now. He’s 24 and coming off a 104 point season. No way he signs for $8 mil even with that term.
Edit: misread that. Yeah I agree 10 mil |

Tkachuk would be very generous to Calgary signing for a 10M AAV.

Yeah. He would likely ask for 11 over 8 years. There is also that persistent rumor that he wants to play in STL.

Supposedly, buying out Monahan is a touchy issue tho. The story is the Flames want to sign Gaudreau but Monahan is his best bud so they think a buyout could derail signing him. Gaudreau’s wife and Monahan’s girlfriend are real close as well.

Agree with you on Mullen 100%, He adapted the power play to the players he had and had a knack for keeping us in the top tier for PP, even on years when the teams overall scoring was lacking The "Gut instinct" decision (if I recall his reasoning properly) was not a good choice |

GMs need to stop believing that "winning culture" can be transplanted by signing 4th-line grinders to obscene contracts. |

Flyers traded TK's best friend Patrick. Leafs traded Marner's real dad Matt Martin. Tom Wilson's best bud Burakovsky was traded away. Hanky cried when Zuccs was traded away. It happens. Cue "it's a business" cliche.
Aside from his leadership, Monahan is cooked. |

It’s a business and it could happen. My point is that they have a fear that making a move like that with Monny having a year left may have an impact if he’s considering several destinations. It’s something they have to think about.
I’m not sure all those trades you mentioned are the same thing. Those transactions may not have occurred at the same time that a contract had to be negotiated.

*#FlyersNews*
From a Source: Hearing Flames Forward Johnny Gaudreau left Scotiabank Saddledome late last night. He was heard saying "smell ya later" as he walked out wearing jeans, cowboy boots, and a replica Eric Lindros Stanley Cup Final Jersey from 1997. things are heating up

Wouldn’t be surprised if he gets it, or at least in the neighborhood.
What do you think the “bread eater’ will fetch? Mangiapane put up damn fine numbers, especially considering his TOI. Maybe 6ish/year?
Or is that statistic going to be an outlier at 26, and weighs heavily upon his line mates |

He also had PP's units with Giroux, Timonen, Hartnell and then Schenn in the bumper spot. Voracek and Simmonds. I could've coached that unit to success.

The Rangers pretty much tried to do the same thing. Signed the other winger from that TB 3rd line and traded Buchnevich for Blais and a 2nd. Just awful moves.

I don't know but if I'm Calgary, Mangiapane is where I cut bait if I need to.
Flyers are the perfect trade partner. Fletcher will pay out the nose and he'll either get hurt or score 14 goals. |
