Pickering is the 5th 6th ranked best D prospect on almost all lists. Doesn't mean that's what will happen. If not for his growth spurt his size wouldn’t be so much what most see.

No probs if ppl in here are high on him but I’ve him behind Jiricek Nemec Korzchinski who I think are & go top 10. Mateychuk & Mintyukov intrigue me a lot more & one could fall to us. Chesney also has my interest. Where to fit Pickering in there is difficult.

So I see no reason to reach for Pickering unless in a trade down.

I get all of that but picking D 1st round is riskyish. 15th less so but no 2nd round pick makes it crucial it’s a cannot miss.

All that aside I think other moves & signings are more important so as the this & future draft can be better for us long term.
