On NHL combine : Cammi Granato did a great job in preparation, the interviews were great, We interviewed all players in the top 5, we are prepared for all scenarios. Lots of talk about 2nd pick but we are not necessary aggressively going after that pick.

Plus what do you mean Van doesn't need LHD. Brad Hunt and Travis Dermott were used last season. Dillon better than both of them. Unproven but potential in Rathbone hasn't won a spot but his competition is pretty weak too.

They used Dermott and Hunt last season because they're cheap for their role. Tying 19 mil up on the LHD is dumb. You're paying your third pairing guy 4 mil to play 12 minutes a night.

Canucks need youth and cap space. What you proposed is neither.

Obviously you get Dillon, you won't be playing him 12 minutes a night. The guy is better than Dermott, Schenn, Burroughs, Poolman. You are bettering your top 4.

Allows OEL to move over in game to play the right side as some insiders have said has been talked about trying.

Allvin said the Canucks aren't going to create cap space for the sake of creating cap space. They want to make the team better not cheaper.
