Patience, hey they got a 7th, which really is a 6th but if we trade it for a 2031 pick when we might be contending it should be worth a 5th, but think apple or Banana said we should hold out until 2033 when it's worth a 4th!! Bonus package

I don’t think this means it’s a wasted year by taking on bishops contract

Let’s see what else happens

I can tell you first hand that Dahlin and Tuch are extremely excited about this team, and a trade for cap space has not affected them one iota.

Personally I'm annoyed by it, but it's a nothingburger overall.

Christ every single person and their mother knew the Sabres were going to take dead money. I'm irritated because they can't get more from teams but you folks need to accept this roster as is, is not a cap roster. The idea is to get to that point.

but it is a clear sign that they intend to use that contract to effectively spend below the floor

Anderson $0.8m
UPL $1m
Hinnostroza $1.0m
Peterka $0.9m
Quinn $0.9m
Brycen $1.0m
Olofsson $4.95m
PK Subban $3.8m
-----------------------------
Total = $13.55
Current Cap = $46.9m (w Bishop's $4.95m included)
------------------------------------
Total = $60.45m
2022 -2023 Cap Floor = $60.24 according to PuckPedia.com

Y'all can go on vacation now....unless you want to see how Kevyn trims $0.2m off

that's not necessarily true. It's also used as flexibility. However, the main point is, how many roster spots are available, right now?

1G, 1-2D, 1F.

How are you getting those players? What do they cost? If you're trading roster players, what's the net intake of that cap? Let's say you trade for a pick or two for Quick (+5), trade Olofsson, 9, 28 and Mittelstadt for Debrincat (+4) and trade Johnson and VGK 2 for Ethan Bear (+3). Maybe you sign a 4C (+2). We're starting at -14 and we've just added 14.

If Kevo goes balls out with what WE want this offseason to be, we're at zero.

CapFriendly has the cap floor at $61M.

https://www.capfriendly.com/

Looks like PuckPedia only updated the cap limit, not the cap floor, as the cap floor this past season was $60.2M.

My post is missing a couple adds. UPL less than a mil, Brysen under 2, JJP, so maybe we're around 10M under.

Even if Adams did all that fun poop we're like 3-4 over. Without that Bishop contract things get a bit dicey.

My guess at why they did the move now is their willingness to pay Bishop's $1M bonus which will be due in the coming weeks.

Good post.
I understand your over all point, and it is fair.
I know Ethan Bear was an example, but since he was listed I'll mention he was a healthy scratch for the entirety of the Playoffs this season. He isn't what I would look for.

So,I'd post though, point was made.

Bit ironic they were willing to take that 7 but not at the TDL.

Seen a lot of mocks with Cutter going 6 to Columbus. Most have been posted in the last week or so.

Looks like Nazar will be there for us.

Nothing is certain tho

I know he wasn't used, but he's still had quality showings throughout the season. He can be had at a good price.

Ethan Bear: I asked Bear if he had Long COVID and he said he doesn’t know, to be honest, but it was hard to breathe when returning to the ice after his stint with COVID-19. I really hope the medical staff and the Canes front office is doing everything they can to help him. He’s a talented player with a bright future.

Gotta spend money to save money.

This is such a terrible look, but they timed it well so that few will notice.
