Months? Years?
Are we expecting long term decisions to be made after this season? - kingcong39

The idea that bringing in a real goalie will scare off Portillo and Levi is the most frustrating narrative to me. Portillo had a golden opportunity this year and opted to go back to school instead, and now the Sabres should put their professional organization on hold in order to placate him? Gtfo with that idea. I thought the Sabres wanted PWWTBH - Hank Balling
The most asinine narrative to me is that there’s “limited spots”.
The 21st ranked offense is all set at forward |

Ewok Jamboree is better than Empire? You, sir, have gone full Jar Jar. Never go full Jar Jar. Side note: David Lynch was in talks to direct that. That would have been amazing |

Krebs, Quinn, Peterka have been seemingly handed spots in the top 9 already and I just don’t get it.
None are guaranteed NHL producers yet
Odds are 2/3 fall short of expectations. Peterka is the one I have the highest hopes for.
I think Quinn has serious durability concerns - sbroads24
Quinner also struggled to produce in the playoffs. JJP and Ruotso showed well though. |

I think he struggled because he was banged up.
Not sure he’s been healthy for more than a month or so in two years now |

In all seriousness, I made peace with their plans months ago. That doesn't mean I have to agree with it |

Gotta hope he somehow gets stronger and more durable. Things only get tougher at the next level. The injuries might be coincidence or he might just be Mr Glass. |

Fill in the blank for our starting goalie and there is a lean offseason to assess what we have and best case we are bringing a vet or two at the deadline for a playoff push |

I don’t think the Rangers are particularly great, but they drafted #1 and #2 overall recently and both those players are on a 3rd line with a center who’s also a top 10 pick in the last 5 years.
They don’t sniff the ECF if they “did it the right way” and made sure no one was blocking them from guaranteed top 6 minutes
When opportunities arose for them to improve in the immediate future they took advantage.
That’s all I’m asking the Sabres to do.
If there’s a move to make the team better, make it.
Don’t tell me in June that the cap floor is more important than winning - sbroads24
The Kings are also a good example as they had a top rated prospect group a year or two ago, and they did not hesitate to make moves last offseason to fortify their lineup.
Yes, they already had Quick, Doughty, and Kopitar, but both Quick and Doughty looked to be sunsetting until this past season.
Amazing what an influx of talent can do.
It's what Thomas Vanek has been advocating for (good call on pointing that out J Crag). |

The great analytics department they’ve built should put their stamp on this team and find the next Devon Toews trade.
We don’t necessarily need to trade first rounders or spend gobs of money to make significant improvements |

boston set to go into freefall mode
leafs could take a step backwards due to cap , and lack of possible goalie
the third spot in the division could be up for grabs
we have a core of
dahlin
power
samuelsson
joker
tage
tuch
skinner
cozens
peterka
quinn
krebs
casey
I mean these guys are almost all first rounders or players that produce at a decent level
I can't understand tapping the breaks and see what we have when a couple of moves can be made to compete for that third spot in the division |

trade for Ethan Bear or Connor Murphy
throw Kadri a 2 year 24 mil offer
Sign Kuemper or Campbell or trade for one of the Caps goalie
3 roster upgrades should be easy even for a team that has a waitress as team president and an acting GM who destroyed the hockey boards at the Harbor Center |

I don't think anyone on here is saying NOT to add talent. And I'm all for adding a legit goalie (I've said from day one that they need to address that position, in particular, since Levi and/or Portillo are at least 3 years away). And I want to see at least a bottom 3 vet D man brought in.
I just don't see where you find a spot for more than one guy up front, though. And I think trading young guys is not only a mistake, but at least a year away, since they still don't know what they have in about 5-6 players from last year. - Powerslave
Bravo.
But, but, but...just add players! Let me try...
Why can't the Sabres add McJesus, Pasta, Breadman, Vasi, Fox and Makar!
Or trade Tage for Pool Boy!
Do Something Adams. |
